First tour - hotel w/ pool
Newbie here. I am planning my first tour to LOS for November and have learned a great deal from reading the posts in this site. Its four months away and I can hardly wait. I would like to stay at a "nicer" hotel but hate thought of paying a joinder fee every time I take a TG back to the room. I know that the Expat has a pool and does not have a joinder fee. However, does anyone know of any other hotels close to the action with a pool but no joinder fee?

What do you mean by nicer there are many options.
Do you want to pay 1000 - 2000 - 3000 a night be more specific.
I've stayed at this hotel before and it was good in high season not far from the beach and Bangla I never had to pay joiner fee but booked for two people and email them before I arrived about bringing girls back.

River, thanks for the reply. I'm thinking that I would like to keep my room rate at 2000 baht or less. I checked out the hotel set forth in your e-mail and it looks pretty nice. Actually, it's pretty much just what I'm looking for. I will e-mail them for the rate but do you think it will be less than 2000 baht during high season?

Yes it's a good boutique style Thai hotel maybe 1500 bht for a deluxe poolside room with breakfast it looked very quiet when I was there in May.
They don't seem to give huge discount in the off season.

salathai resort
yes, it is a nice, small and clean hotel. i have stayed there 3
times over the last few months. right in front of the hotel you
have the soi seapearl bars and bangla is just a block away. the
beach is less than 3 minutes saunter away. i cannot say much
about the restaurant as i always at the stalls in the small lane
at bangla. only problem is that there no parking at the hotel if
you intend to rent a car. u would have to park along the road
in front, alternate side on even and odd dates. leave your keys
with the reception at night and they will reposition the car in
the morning. hope this small piece of info helps. you can e-mail
them and talk to them about the room charges. cheers.

Salathai
I e-mailed the Salathai last week for a rate in November for two rooms. The reply finally came....$2400 Baht per night per room. How do I best go about asking for a discount?
p.s. I have also e-mailed the Patong Villa.

Hello,
We come in Patong since 1990.
Since two years we are staying in Patong Resort Hotel.
We pay every time: 1400 baht for a hotel room and 1000 baht for a garden wing room.
The garden wing rooms are better because it's just a minute walk to Bangla road.
And it's right on the swimmingpool.

I think he means really the Patong Resort and is just behind the Patong Tower.
As mbk says from the garden wing room to Bangla is one minute; from the hotel room it is 1 1/2 minute. To the beach is about 3-5 minutes.
The said room rates seems for the low season.
