Flights from phuket to bangkok

I need to go back to bangkok from phuket on the 4th or 5th and trying to book a cheap flight. On the way down I just went to the airport and paid about 1.6k including tax. I have looked on some of the airline web sites and all flights seem to be fully booked.

If they are all booked, you may have to waitlist at the airport.

NOTE that Bangkok uses 2 airports. If you are connecting to another flight, make sure you fly to the right airport. ;-)

Have tried all of them airlines already. Really wanted to book over internet rather than wait in airport if I do not get flight then will have problems looking for hotel in phuket again.

Will see if I can book via travel agent.

If you call Thai Airways or your travel agent, they can put you on the waitlist for the 5th. Then call back tomorrow and see if you have cleared the waitlist. More expensive than the other airlines, but it will get you out.

As for resistance to airport standby. I've managed to get out everytime I've gone to the airport. Understanding each airline's standby system is the hardest part. Lots of people do it everyday.

Just found a flight on bangkokair from phuket to Pattaya 2,600 + taxes. I could stay in Pattaya for 1 night and then get taxi to bagnkok for the 5th. How far the Pattaya airport from the main part?

You can also get a Phuket-Samui-Bangkok price with a stop in Samui, for much cheaper than Phuket-Samui & Samui-Bangkok combined.

That would be Bangkok Airways too. Only carrier allowed to use Samui Airport.

My advise to you would be to forget about saving a few dollars .Life is more important.Thai airways is the safest. Most of the others are less than safe.Gamble your life on other more important things ,like alcohol and unprotected sex.(with a woman).good luck

In essence I agree with you. Forget money saving and use an airline with a decent safety record.
However, the airline the OP proposes to use, Bangkok Airways, has in fact got a better safety record than Thai Air!

Went to the airport today to try and get the payatta flight as there was still room available last night but it would not allow me to book using my card. Got up quite late and did not have much time packed my bags and headed to airport. Got there the flight was fully booked went on the stanby for that flight but was full. I then tried to get stanby on flight to bkk managed to get a flight 4 hours later with thai air.

Now in bkk again.

Thanks for all the help

Mark
