Baan Veerakit
Hi Guys,
does anyone here know the Baan Veerakit Guesthouse www.veerakit.com. ?
Think about staying there...is it guest friendly? Are the curtains thick enough to prevent the sun from shining through? How about the location?
Cheers,
Alex

found some time ago the website of Baan Veerakit and also the information that it is (should be) GF...
prices and rooms seemed ok!
but i never stayed there, maybe because it's "a bit off" the night scene, so you'll need a tuk tuk or motorbike

Its on Nanai South on the bends near route 66 / family mart etc.. When they first opened they were very cheap, 400 or 500 etc with pool and newly fitted out.. Thats an OK price but 1200 is crazy for that location and quality.
Road noise and balconys directly over the road would be a concern, I have never been inside the rooms but its probably another normal Nanai Rd room. Would not consider it anything special or in any way poor either.

I have called there. Price for April is 1000 per Day. No Joiner Fee.
Thanks for the info on location, LivinLOS. Street noise IS a concern for me. Although on the pictures it looks like the balconies head to theback of the house. I am looking for something a little bit more quiet, some Soi off Nanai would be ok - but not as far away as 50 Years Road. Was thinking about Paripas Mansion (900 Baht), or Little Buddha with its cheap 650 Baht for Deluxe Room in April.
Basically, one thing is very important for me: Thick curtains that prevent the sun from shining in in the morning. Its horrible to feel like a zombie the whole day because you could sleep only from 5am till 9am. On the pictures on their website, Little Buddhas's curtains look too thin. Anybody been there or any other suggestions for alternatives up to 1000 Baht?

Based on the building pics.. Those balconies have to be over the front of the road as the rooms must be accessed / entered from the rear side where the pool is..
Theres a good place just past Ting Tong bar / Nickys 2 massage heading north.. Has a pool, good sized rooms, and as the sun points the other way rooms should stay dark (blue curtains but I havnt slept in it for years).. Thats should have a low season price of 500 baht (its what my mates were paying as late as nov).. I will look for the name as I pass.

I have seen the rooms and they are actually much nicer then most hotels in Patong which are in their category. Owner is a nice guy called Eddie who is a Phuket local and I think his daugher runs the hotel. Nice swimming pool with fountain

Dear Ajaxied,
as you have seen the rooms: Do they also have quiet rooms in the back with balconies away from the street? When you look at the room pictures of the "appartments" on their website, you can see trees on the pictures that show the balconies.
Location is ok for me regarding the distance to Bangla, but I dont like street noise. I will be there in April and I think I will stay either at Paripas Mansion or at veerakit. How about location of Paripas? Seems to be in a quiet little street. Are there motorcycle taxis waiting or do you have to walk to Nanai road each time? How about Restaurants and SevenEleven - does anyone know how far to walk from both hotels?
