Bkk to Phuket by bus worries
Two questions about this.
First, since it is a 12 hour ride, I am worried about bathroom usage. Given the fact that I am not used to food in Thailand, I am worried I might get diarrhea. How often does the bus stop for bathroom breaks or is there a toilet onboard?
And anyone know what time the bus arrives in Phuket?

Its been a while since i did the bus routes from BKK, used to go to Koh Samui alot.
The buses are pretty modern these days and have a toilet onboard, but if your worried or actualy have a dodgy stomach then take a couple of immodium a few hours before going.
The buses usualy stop once, and usualy at a restaurant come gift shop place run by a relative of the owner of the bus company lol.
My old trick was to buy some valium, (not sure if you can still get it without prescription) book a night bus trip, get a small pillow, earplugs to drown out the dodgy dvd film they like to play on every bus and a blanket or towel as the AC can be fierce. Then sleep the whole way there, easy.
Generaly the bus routes are easy and comfortable, just long and boring.

Thanks infiniium. By the way does anyone have a website for the bus schedule at Southern bus terminal? I have googled it and search the forum but to no avail.

Buses leave for BKK every 30/60 minutes or so from various companies, I wouldnt worry about the schedule. I have found that these breaks can be quick, nearly missed the bus when I went to Hat Yai once after a short break and pee.

Drop off location?
Cool. Do any of you know where is the bus drop off point in Phuket? If the type of bus matters, I think I will take the VIP one.

Usually phuket town..
Tho what is the bus price these days ?? 1200 baht for a VIP bus ?? verses 1800 - 2000 for a budget airline ?? Even bar girls fly these days.

Yep an extra £10 to save yourself 10 hours extra travel, I'd pay alot more than that for sure. Fly save your self the hassle puppy.

Did that trip from BKK to Phuket once, 13 hours i believe including 1 hour stop for some really bad food. Cost 1000 baht with VIP bus.
Never again, considering the prices to fly now i wouldnt consider it.

Also, if you are taller than the average Thai, even a well-appointed VIP bus can be pretty uncomfortable for a long trip.
