There are lot of new (?) guesthouses in that area, I were surprised lately when I drove on a small soi and saw a lot of guesthouses. I guess this one is also on that soi.

Maybe a good place to look for a room in peak season if other "common" hotels/guesthouses are fully booked, I guess many people is not aware of these guesthouses. And 600 baht in high season with aircon is also a great price.

yes the price is great, but i was worried about the safety. and like i said they didn't ask for deposit, doesn't feel "good" about these. replied from them are "Yes we booked your room, just come to the reception and tell them your name". don't wanna go there without a place to sleep..

Dont worry, if they say you are booked and they dont want deposit, everything is fine. Many small guesthouses work this way or ask for deposit only in high season.

I normally stay right around the coner from that place at another small guesthouse. I think saftey there should be fine, as I have never seen any problems in that area. And, Dawsey is right the walk to the top a Bangla is about 5 min. You can also take a short-cut which will bring you out at the back of Soi Patong Resort, by heading down the guarded road to the right of Cristins. Its a good way to stumble home at night as long as you do not have any company with you. The guards won't allow Thai's to pass.

I stayed at Vech Guest House in the beginning of July. Easy going, clean rooms, friendly staff and best shower I had in Thailand. Five minutes walk to Bangla Road and took me about half an hour crawling back.

I would guess the answer is yes as it is a small guesthouse and not some huge swanky - family orientated 5* hotel.

However , you are always best to email them and check simply asking , are you guest friendly with no joiner fees for the lady? , make sure you request a double room also.

One girl a night was not a problem. However you are talking about girls, so don't know how many girls you had in mind. Not to sure if they accept busloads of BG's a night for your room, but don't be afraid to ask the kind reception staff or maybe just try it and see what happens

Hi,
Planning to stay there in November, anybody have any updates for Vech Guest House or has anybody stayed there recently. As far as my conversation with Mr. Vech over email tells me that he is a nice person and the place would be good. But really would like to hear from the people's experience. Thanks.

This is the latest update from Vech Guesthouse. Unfortunately its still 18months old.

Vech Guesthouse, Patong
From December 22th until January 7th I stayed at the Vech guesthouse. It's located about 100m past Cristins on the other side of the road. It's a Thai familie run guesthouse. They organise trips, they have a massage salon, laundry service, a small bar and restaurant. Very, very friendly people. Also very guest friendly. And their price in high saison: 700 Bt/night for a double room (the room I had was a little bit small, but on the other hand big enough for two people). Almost nothing can beat that. Their website:Vech Guest House - Guest House Rooms in Patong Beach, Thailand
Their e-mailadress: vechguesthouse@hotmail.com
There is no swimming pool and to Bangla it's about 7/8 minutes walk. To the beach it's 4 minutes when you take the shortcut through Soi Kebsab.
I'll hope this is usefull information.

Cheers,
(Raval 26. Jan.2006)

I stayed there in september. Nice people , clean rooms and good to chillout a bit in the afternoon before going to bangla at night. I stayed there two times before and will stay there again. Just 5 a 10 minuts walk, depends on how many girls (or ladyboys) try to stop you walking.

Thanks mate. Well i won't mind getting stopped by girls but i might have to think about dealing with LB's.

Hi Heading2los,

I stayed in Vech Guesthouse last august for about 2 weeks.... And the report I gave in 2006 is still up to date. No changes to the bad.

Cheers,

Raval

Vech Guesthouse

Thought i would give an updated report on this place. I just spent a fortnight there and it is right up there with the best of the best in my opinion.
It's not the Ritz but it is everything and more than you could expect from a budget establishment.
All the staff are very friendly and great fun. Rooms are clean, comfy beds, great showers and is in a good location.
It has it's own massage and salon out the back and Vech also owns the bar in the soi out the back called Mixed Bar which is a great place for a drink and a chat with the girls without any hassle for lady drinks. A very relaxed bar indeed.
No deposit required for booking a room. Once Vech has confirmed your booking by email, his word is good. All in all, thoroughly recommended.

Just stayed at The Vech.. They have a new owner, an Aussie by the name of Kevin...
A good place, nice bar / restaurant leading on to the street. There are a few regulars who drink there and people tend to come in off the street as they see the vibe.
The girls were great and as said before there is a massage place at the back.
The rooms are adequate and the rates are low.
A little noisy at night, but then so are most places in the area.
Well worth giving it a try.

Did add your comment to the BM opinions of the hotels.
