bkk to Phuket help

Just wondered if anyone can help me with some info.
i have booked a flight from Heathrow to Bangkok with Thai airlines but now need to fly to Phuket with a friend on a connecting thai airlines flight from Bangkok.
if i book the bkk to Phuket bit now, again with thai from bkk will they be able to send my bag through to phuket from heatrow or would it then be classed as two seperate flights ?
I have phoned the airline but i am getting mixed messages from them.

As long as your connection time between the two flights is valid and since it is the same airline you'll be fine. Even if it is two different airlines you can often check the luggage through, especially if your onward reservation is in the computer system (i.e. same alliance).

I land at 15-55. bkk to hkt is at 18.20

Plenty of time. Depending on airport the valid connect times are usually between 30 and 60 minutes.

Do bring a printout of the onward itinerary, including confirmation number.

As Mr.DK said should not be a problem. I flew Thai from HKT to BKK and then to Shanghai with an 8 hour layover between BKK and Shanghai. Bags were checked right through to Shanghai which was nice to be able to get out and about BKK for part of that 8 hours w/out toting a bag around.
