Romantic getaway ??
I just noticed the date (you can thank me later) and figured tomorrow I may hop off the island for a nights getaway or 2.
Obvious conclusion is Khao Lak.. Only ever driven through or stopped on the main strip. Any suggestions for a nice place to stay, perhaps a little romantic ??
Also best places in Khao Lak to have evening out ?? Not expecting much bar action etc but some places must be worth noting over others.
Not fixed on Khao Lak, So if theres anything really special worth noting I would love to hear it, heard that Ranong has some nice hotsprings, the missus has never been to hotsprings so thats a good alternative, as is anything in Phang Nga that has that special something.

i liked the krabi area Sef. it's about a 3 hour drive from phuket. in ao nang you have a couple of bars and you can take a longtail boat to nice beaches and island. the scenery around there was beautiful imo and the drive there is interesting as well.

Hi
I can recommend The Briza Beach Resort Khao Lak, Newly opened hotel I got the price for 1800 including breakfast for 2 in January. It is on a good beach location with good facilities. There is a little music bar which does a very romantic dinner for 2 on the beach.
Khao Lak itself is quiet but found a great seafood place, cannot remember its name but about halfway down on the right, it is raised above the street. Massage lady on the beach near the hotel told me about it

Some one has suggested a hot spring on the way to Khao Lak (I hear theres some up at ranong also)... Idea of after dark hotspring, maybe pack a bottle of bubbly.. Good mental image.
Dont know anything about them yet.. Looking online now.

LiL....a little bit farther afield although not too drastic..... How about Langkawi for a couple days its absolutely beautiful, and sensibly priced.... can get some really romantic 5 star beach villas and that is 5 star not 3 star equivalent....
Alternatively and nearer to home the Evason 5 star resort in Hua Hin on Parknampran beach also comes highly recommended...
Good Luck with your search
p.s You might end up bumping into Billy and Shaun from O/S if you go to the latter !!!

I found a great little resort on the way out of Khao Lak and have now been there 3 times in the last 2 months. People I have taken have loved it themselves and have planned to go back themselves. We all agreed it was a great little getaway for a couple of days.
It's called Ao Thong Beach. Very quiet area, just a few people the times I have been there, which were mainly high season, so can only imagine it will be just as quiet now.
The beach is quite deep so the few beach chairs are well away from the food tables on the beach, just off the beach are the massage sala's and small bar. They've got little huts just off the beach on stilts for accommodation.
To get there go through Khao Lak, and just before the Meridien there is a sign for the Similana. Follow that windy road for a mile and you will end up at Ao Thong.
Not really taken many photos there, but here are a couple I found
Got a phone number if you are interested.

well according to Gaz, they have settled in really well and are much happier there than here.... not one day goes by here lately when i get pissed off with something...usually traffic, congestion (not nasal), pollution, construction etc so its time soon to maybe relocate and Hua Hin would certainly be top 3...
Was going to wait on the sale of my Kata house before moving but then i'll be here forever !!!!

Hua Hin is just that little bit like eastbourne.. Got that retirement community vibe..
Nice for a relaxing couple of days but not for long personally.
