I booked my flight for my trip in May a couple of months ago. Have just received a mail to advise they have moved me onto a different flight ( not just moved my flight time ), which means i will have a 3.5 hour wait in Dubai rather than 1.5 hours . Does anyone know if they can do this ?

Wouldn't be Expedia would it Dan? Did they give you an explanation why it was moved?

I had the misfortune to be informed with less than a week to go last time. It caused me no end of problems with connecting flights coming home.

In my case, after end of March, the airlines schedule was changed and they had no choice but to move me.

Have a look at your airline schedule for your departure date and see if your original flight is still running. It may have been rescheduled like mine.

Its with Opodo. My original flight is still being sold by them, my new schedule has a completely different flight number . The original flight is now about £200 more expensive than i paid aswell ! Have sent them a mail asking to be moved back on to the flight that i booked .

OK. I'll be interested in the outcome, and the reason you were moved.

Ouch, that sounds like a raw deal. Did you pay in full when you booked? If you did, the agent should have ticketed the flight and that's really it then; no changes should happen.

Schedule changes are pretty common, but if they are still selling your original flight then it's not a schedule change. It's more likely that the agent held your seats for too long without ticketing them and lost the option, but that's just a guess.

Do let us know how it pans out.

Tricky tho, arguing with a website. Maybe there is still a place for a real-life travel agent after all

Sure, you need to get to Berlin first, but plenty of cheap flights for that?

LTU fly direct to Phuket from Dusseldorf and Munich.

Thread title is way off the mark. There are plenty of return flights for under £500 as always to Bangkok. You just need to be a bit flexible.

Just done a random check and got these>>>

Out 26May back 19June

London Heathrow flying with Qatar Airways £458
Roughly 4 hour connection times each way at Doha

London Gatwick flying with Qatar Airways £478
Best for connection times...only 2 hours each way at Doha

The actual return airfare is £300...the rest is all tax!

Even direct from LHR Qantas are £544 and BA £547 for the same dates.

Avoid travelling at weekends and when school holidays are on and the cheap flights are there. Probably a good idea to try not to travel when the Olympics are on too as many may choose to route through BKK to get there.

You know, unless I am booking for a very short journey, I will always use a real-life travel agent. All my flights to Thailand have been booked at a shop rather than on the internet. and to be honest the price at the travel agents are usually a little bit higher, but I prefer paying for peace of mind.

Hi guys,

just one tip for booking flights and searching for the best free flights (with mostly the best price), there is a website for people working for airliner companys, there you can login and search for flight (much better than all other flight systems as you have a good connection to the amadeus booking system). For each flight you get some symbols like :-) :-| or :-(.
If you get a :-) that means, there are free places, so the flight is not fully booked. If you get a :-| that means, that the flight is fully booked but not overbooked, so the chance that you get a seat is good. If you get a :-( that means, that the flight is overbooked.
For flights with :-| and :-( you get on all bokking search engines very bad prices.

The website is called www.flyzed.com, you need a username and password (which you can find in google if you are searching for a little bit... ( for example on commuting resource website ? - Airline Pilot Central Forums :-))))

CU in May in LOS,
Wolf.

Opodo didnt reply to my e-mail so i rang them. They advised me that my original fight had been cancelled by Emirates and that is why they moved me to the earlier flight. They said it was still showing as for sale on their website as it had yet to be updated . So i can't really argue with that ......

Check the emirates website. www.emirates.com

That will tell you if your flight no is cancelled or not.
New schedules usually start end of the month.
Sounds like the same thing as happened to me with Qatar/Expedia.

Yes had checked it thanks, and my original flight doesnt appear to be there anymore. Oh well, am sure a 3.5 hour wait at the airport wont spoil 3 weeks in LOS ......
Was glad i booked early though as the flight i am on is now over £200 more than i paid.

That is a result then. There are far worse places to spend a few hours than Dubai Airport. Excellent duty free and a bar.

Just had what I think is a good quote from WestEast Travel, (which i learnt about from this board, cheers), LDN - BKK - HKT, HKT - BKK, BKK - LDN, £662 all in.

Will probably wait a week or two to see if I can get anything better, but I think this is pretty good for this year with all the high prices being spoken about on all the boards I frequent.

It all depends on your dates, if that is in holiday time, easter or summer, it's a pretty good price.

I just got a quote of €867.00 Dublin - BKK with China Airlines for September. I thought that was quite good...
