Accomodation at short notice in March

Having booked my flights in November I set about mailing several guest houses that have had good reviews on this site. I got a number of replies and settled on one.
They mailed me back and asked me to confirm a few days before my arrival.
I have done so, but have so far not heard from them. I am not unduly worried yet and will mail again.

But if things should go pear shaped and I end up at Phuket Airport without my arranged pick up, what are the chances of getting walk in accommodation?
I will take with me a list of preferred accommodation and as I do know my way around fairly well will not resort to helpful taxi drivers as middle men
Last year the hotel I was in had a few empty rooms and I am hoping that this may be the norm for March, even if it means moving around a bit…
Any advice, should I need it???

Thanks in advance…

Hi Retepg,

Last year(Late March) although pretty full, KN Guesthouse was taking walk -ins. Whilst I was staying there, a couple of German guys took the room reserved for a BM so he had to take one two floors higher than the poolside room.
Its a nice hotel, great pool and decent food. Located about 100metres on the left up Soi Jintana opposite Royal Paradise.
Rate is up from when I stayed, but still worth the money they are asking.

KN Guest House, perfect comfort and location, Phuket Island

when you walk out of baggage claim it is to the left
they will ask you what you want to spend and have a bunch of brochures

Just before you leave Phuket airport there is a desk (executive cars i think its called) where they sell bus tickets to Patong for 150 baht.
On the trip to Patong they will always stop off at the local travel agents to see if you have a room booked and will usally offer a quite good hotel/rate .

If it is at Easter time it will be pretty full...outside of that should be fine...

Thai guesthouses are notoriously slow in replying to email Rete....so no worries there

Take your lead off Spector, he is totally right and up to date with information. Will definately be rooms and at good prices in Soi Sansabai because of all the new rooms available, plus its a great location for Bangla and the Beach.

Why don't you call them to check if they got your mail.
At the same time check about the room.
It usually works....

I used them also one time I arrived with my daughter and hadn't booked rooms in advance.
They gave me a very good price for two rooms at Thara Patong.
When we wanted to extend our stay we had to pay a lot more directly to the hotel than at the airport.
