If you booked a deluxe room then you will be staying in the main hotel, which is nice. However if you booked a standard room then be prepared for them to put you next door at the Capricorn. Cottage type accommodation but really not very nice inside. Your in your 20's, so this might be perfect hotel as the ground floor rooms are a bonus. Otherwise, upgrade to a deluxe or move to another hotel.

Yes, this one is next to the Capricorn isn't it? They share a pool. You need to be careful that you don't get stuck in those Capricorn bungalows. I checked in for 5 nights and left after 1.

They aren't too bad, but pretty basic and the shower was terrible as I remember. Fairly quiet though and a good spot.

I booked for 15 nights and left after one. It's wasn't quiet as the back of some rooms butt up to a very loud bar.

That's a decent budget, so you have lots of options. I would hesitantly suggest Poppa Palace, great hotel apparently run by idiots, and maybe the Salathai as well.

Heres some good options:

Summer Breeze Hotel - The Friendliest Hotel In Patong Beach
The Lawan Residence - A Mini Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Patong
Jenny Guesthouse - Guest House Rooms Patong Beach Phuket Thailand
Baipho Lifestyle Hotel - Patong, Phuket, Thailand

All close to the nightlife and G.F.

KN Guesthouse comes in that category. Nice place, nice pool, nice location, but don't rely on a booking.

I'd back up the Poppa Palace recommendation I've had a look at the K-Hotel delux room and Poppa beats those rooms by a mile. K Hotel has a slightly bigger and better pool area tho.

KN could be the ideal in between hotel with rooms of in between standard and a half decent pool

Why say the Poppa is run by idiots Steve? I thought that was the K&N?

That was my experience of them. I tried to book by e-mail, they asked for card details, which I reluctantly scanned and emailed over, my computer tells me that they have read my e-mail and they deny all knowledge.

I found trying to book a room with them dificcult and that shouldn't be the case with a hotel, in my opinion.

Cant go wrong in Poppa. We are going back again in April and cant wait. Super clean rooms, great staff, top location, it just doesnt get any better IMO. Tropica bungalows was also on our hit list, but they are no longer GF. The KN also is in a good location and cheap as advised above, but perhaps their booking system leaves a bit to be desired.

Mail Poppa, and ask Ann to check things out for you, they will also arrange airport pick up if required.

Bottom line is any of the places mentioned will fit the bill, just check out which you like on the net and book it.

I have had a nightmare with emails to and from poppa -palace but its all sorted now, its best to telephone and confirm as said ask for Ann.
It took me a while to get the receptionist to understand that i was Mr Ireland from England telephoning about a reservation.
When she realised my name was Mr Ireland from England on the phone it must have been the funnest thing she had heard all day from her laughs.

This was the place I first stayed in Phuket and I was disappointed. I booked far in advance and asked for (and confirmed) a 2nd story balcony room. When I arrived I was placed in a first floor room in an "ok" location. When I returned the next week (after a short stay in Phi Phi) I was pushed to the other hotel as my requested room (see above) was not available. I promptly carried the 'ol backpack down the street and have stayed at the Summer Breeze ever since. And while the SB does not have balcony, they never told me they did either. IMHO they (K Hotel) are an OK hotel for too many baht. If you are not in a big group or staying a long time be prepared to stay in the other hotel.
