Did the flight yesterday, Pattaya-Phuket. 3700bht and well worth it. Efficient and excellent service from BKK Air.
Certainly reccomd it rather than oing to BKK. Flight time that arrives mid afternoon good too.

Sounds like a good way to go, previous to this always gone via BKK but feel its a whole days travelling from hotel to hotel, sounds like this saves a bit of time.
Is it easy to get to and from Utapo airport ? Ive never been, are we at the mercy of taxi mafia 800 baht from airport into patts? What about from patts to the airport, can you rent songthaew or taxi reasonably ?
thanks in advance

ive had this disussion before......
i still find it easier to go to bkk.......
example.........using april 1 one way flights............
phkt to bkk.....
10:00 Phuket ( HKT) 11:25 Bangkok ( BKK) 2700baht
45 mins to airport from hotel 600baht.....30 mins airport...1 hr to bkk........then 2 hrs to patts 1200 baht......
all in all from hotel is 4 hrs 15 mins.............4500 baht........
now from paht to patts
PG252 09:35 12:10 ATR 72 1 3100baht [cheapest option.
45 mins from airport to hotel.....600 baht...30 mins airport..flight 2 hrs 35 mins!!!!..... 1 hr to patts from urtappo 1000 baht....
all in all from hotel 5 hrs 20 mins....4700 banht...........
i know there is a direct fligh fromm phkt to patts.but it always seems to be full........
ij

Flight was a third empty yesterday.
Hotel to airport 40 mins, flight 1hr 10 mins to phuket ( plane was 15 mins early arriving) Total time 1hr 50 mins. Cost 3700bht. Bargain
Maybe ij was just unlucky.

i find it is much harder to get the flight you want by just showing up at airport or even booking the day before than it was a few years ago
that was one of the things i loved about LOS, the ease to just go to airport and jump on a flight
can hardly do that these days

Am currently having the same dilema for my trip in May - whether to fly from patts or bkk to phuket. I usually go from patts, but the flights seems to be a whole lot more expensive this time so gonna do it from bkk .
Looking at IJ's timings, can't see it making any difference apart from in the cost...
Also , when going from phuket to patts, places like Areca Lodge do seem to be a rip off for the airport pick up, think they charged me something like 2500 baht last time round for 3 people ... so getting in a meter taxi should save alot.

unless you organise one in advance you could end up paying 600-800bht.....taxi ordered beforehand should only be about same as bus
ask yor hotel if they have a free pick up service
