I realize that i may spend about 2 days traveling and i do not want to get a rental car or bike, how much is should i expect to pay a driver (per day) for his time from going to beaches during the day to wherever else (wat or whatever) i want to go for a whole day, i looked in the search engine but could not find any. suprisingly enough some of the nicest people i met in other countries were the cabbies and i would usually have one for my entire trip, they would give me their cell and i would call them if i needed anything, is it the same here?

You can get private cars that will take you around, and pick you up when required. The local expats will most likely have phone no's and contacts, but there are plenty around.

If its days out at the beach and snorkelling you are after, look up Iltis and myself at MTB as we are planning a few beach days whilst you are around. Just tag along if you like. I reckon we will get a crowd of us out for a few good days at various beaches.

thanks dawsey, that is very nice of you and i am sure i will take you up on that, i found out i arrive on the 22nd at around 10am, so i will see you that night, i will be the asian guy stumbling around with a stupid look on my face.

Supachai in Patong is good, they have both cars and vans with driver for touring around or airport transfer. (Should be less than an equivalent tuk tuk fare)
