A380 In The News

This A380 article causes one to reflect on the dearth of BM reports thereupon.

So has anyone taken a standard, paid-for flight from Sydney to Singapore? Or, if not, from Singapore to Sydney?

...

It may come as a shock but I actually did a search afore posting. The issue is: has anyone experienced this plane in commercial, line service? Naive me, I thought my question was well-posed.

Never did understand the reasoning behind "answering" a question with a link.

We all know the airplane can fly, is nice inside, and generally impressive. But how about the endpoints? The crush of taxis and buses outside the departure terminal, clearing that many people through baggage check in, government issues, waiting area details. Restrooms, food service, things that are not sexy and, honored BM "luv u long time," not funny.

What about the arrival issues? Again, baggage retrieval, customs, changing money, taxis. In the real world does a wave of 800 or so passengers overwhelm the best laid plans? As an aviator and traveler I would like to hear what others have experienced.

At the same time I do not wish to offend the delicate sensitivities of our Senior Elite Members

don't think that this should be a big problem...
mainly because there are "only" 471 seats and not the maximum of about 800 (economy only)

the current B747's (-400), B777 (-300) and A340 (-600) are also equipped with about 400+ seats (depending on configuration), so not a big difference to the A380

Captain Elastic, your question was........So has anyone taken a standard, paid-for flight from Sydney to Singapore? Or, if not, from Singapore to Sydney?

A simple question you asked, with a simple answer given.

If you don't like the link I inserted.....I couldn't give a flying fcuk. (pun intended)

BTW, You haven't offended me......

It's only a plane, albeit a big plane. Why would BMs want to write reports about that part of the flight. OK if the stewardesses have nicer butts, its worth reading about, but, I had to wait 12 minutes at the luggage carousel, and because I flew economy class my suitcase was underneath someone elses, who flew in the upper deck doesn't interest me.

If you want to read about that sort of thing why not join a airplane passengers' forum?

I thought the A380 was a road down near Dawsey's place!

Lots of caravans and tractors!

555555555 I know Rog, just kidding. It was the A350 that gave me the nightmares. Rochdale to Blandford Forum. Off the M5 IIRC and then stuck behind a bloody caravan all the way down to Dorset. I wouldn't mind but I was going back to work! 55555555

Isn't that the Signal Corps?

All in the past now though

55555555 We had some 'garages' there with some bits of air portable 'kit' stored there and we often used Bournemouth Airport for discreet departures at night. Local authorities didn't like that, the C-130 being a tad noisy for them. So it was back to Lyneham in Wiltshire.

Did quite a bit of work with the Poole lads around the old prison at Weymouth and a few bars as well! Doh! I believe it's the School of Signals now yes. Blandford, not the Prison!

Murky but enjoyable past. 555555555

No sweat, GI. I am really punchy lately... reasons abound but they should be kept private.

Put it this way: In a couple of months I will have a Real World Report which will stop the presses for all SE Asia Expat news outlets. If it could have only been someone else...
