Phuket To Krabi

I plan to go rock climbing in Krabi and wondering how long/hard it is to get there from Phuket?

Are buses available easily? and how long is the trip? what should i expect to pay?

i plan to go there also but i thought it was a 1 hour boat trip

I drove that trip once and seem to remember over 3 hours. Google maps state 164 km (100 miles) and 3 hours. My guess is that with a bus it would be closer to 5 hours.

Ferry service is available from Phuket town and takes 2 hours.

Most tour companies can organize you a mini bus or bigger tour bus.3 to 4 hours by road.

Going over in the ferry is via Phi Phi islands where I think you have to switch ferries.

If you are booked in with a climbing adventure company they might have their own transport.

Bus from Phuket City bus terminal will be ~ 150 Baht and take ~4 hours.

Bus from Patong to Phuket City bus terminal - 20 Baht.

Boat from the pier in Phuket take you directly to Ao Nang. In the low season it would take you on a overnight trip to Phi Phi but now I think you can get there even in Low season directly. Then jump on a Long Tail boat to Tonsai, depence on the tide, where it will leave from, but most time you get tuck tuck to the Ao Nang beach.

If you go by bus, you have to need taxi or Songtail (local bus) from the bus station in Krabi, and it is a hassel with the mob! They want to charge you 400-500 bath for the trip to Ao Nang and tell you there is no Local bus going!
