Accomodation help needed

Fellow BMs,

Me, my girl and my baby girl are going for a long holiday in Phuket (77 nights 2½ months). I've been looking around for accomodation and thought I found a good apartment in Patong Tower (monthly rate = 46,000B) but after having a friends opinion on the price, he suggested I would ask here because I could get a much better offer.

I would like something in Patong or Kata/Karon, if possible near the beach but it's not a must. Cooking possibilities highly appreciated (kitchen with stove, fridge and items), aircon a must. A tv would also be appreciated. The time period is from 28/11-2008 until 13/2-2009, pretty much high and peak season.

If any friendly soul can recommend some places then feel free to PM me or post some info here. I have been looking around, both on the internet and here but keep hitting gueast houses for 1K-1.5K Baht/day or nice apartments for over 100,000B a month which makes the Patong Tower apartment look like a bargain I also took a look at Grand Condotel which was recomended to me by a BM but they have a new rate (so it seems) and don't seem to have a stove from what I can see from the pics... I could stay at Karon Village (bungalow room) for 34,000B a month but they don't have pics of the room and it feels like buying the pig in the sack, the pool looks Ok thou...

Thanks in advance and cheers.

The Green House or similar name is a place Tarzan used to stay at, with kitchen for 6-8000 baht/month, and thats good enough. The problem with such places is first come-first served, not possible to book in advance, I think. The best way is to look around when you arrive to get cheaper and good deals.

Book one night or two in a hotel and look around in those two days.

Thanks IJ, I found a couple of nice alternatives for (as you said) 20000B (give or take) in the phuket gazette, however I've to admit the tower apartment looks nicer and it's bigger

If it's the same green house guest house I found on the net, then the rates are up coz they want 18K per month and it's bookable thou. Thanks for the advice and it's would have been a great place to stay about 1-2 trips ago...

Green House - Guesthouse Hotel, Patong Beach, Phuket Thailand

This is the place i stayed at, and it was ok.. I paid 5000b/month, but that was i low season and back in 2004.. Got a good price through my ex-gf that knew the owners...

Send them an email and ask for a price.. Who know, they might haggle it down for you..

Thumbs up Good value.

Also stayed a week every now and then at The Green House in 2004.Nice clean rooms, good cable TV.Even if it`s a bit far away from Bangla transportation is no problem...the motorcycle-taxi guys have a station on the road outside.

Mmm...and if you`re into Thai-streetfood,this area is a heaven..plenty of vendors around .

Defo recommended !!
