Great Places to Stay in Phuket

Yo, all.

I'm ready to book all my hotels, flights, whatever, for my first trip to LOS. I've heard good things about the Stoney Monday Hotel. Anyone else ever stay there? For hotels, I'm looking for something not right on the action streets, but just a bit away from the noise. Also something with a "safe" safe place, A/C, view, very clean, and of course (I want it all) cheap! Right now the Stoney Monday Hotel is going for 550tb for a great room.

What about flights? Cheapest I found was $702 USD from SFO to BKK. Is that good? Any other places to suggest?

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks guys.

Ahyes

This might be an opportunity for Nicke to post a newbies most commonly asked questions section, starting with

1/ Best place to stay ( no joiner )

2/ Best place to find hot TG.

Seems like everybody always asks these two questions.

Be respectful to new board members

Hey Irish Jonny how about showing some respect to new board members. It would have taken no more time for you to recommend a hotel than to slag the new member off.
Have a think before you post.

Sawasdee Mansion

I have stayed a Sawasdee Mansion in Patong on a number of occassions. The rooms are excellent. 500baht per night no joiner charge. They have saftey deposit boxes free of charge.
It takes about 5 minutes to walk to Bangla Rd.
I would stay there again. I would stay there on my next trip but I have chosen to stay in Patong Villa for the pool.

Unwelcome Response

I remember my first question for the board members and the response it got. I thought it would be my last, but I've gotten over it now.

Ahyes, that is a great fare you found. I could'nt find any others that were lower, given the short notice. Book it NOW, before it dissapears!

I did search before I posted

BTW Irish.

That's why this post is asking specifically for info on the Stoney Monday Hotel, not just a general question on places to stay. And by the response, it looks like no one has (or my post was unclear?). I'll search again. Looks like there's a lot of great places out there. Stoney quoted me 900tb on a suite-size room with a separate living room with a couch, 5th floor ocean view, daily maid service, and in-room safe. Is that great or ho-hom? It's about 10 min walk from the Soi's. That's only $25USD but after 9 days, it adds up.

Shoots, I'm only 17 days away from rocket time! Yippeee!!!

Let's see, buy red or blue diamonds from a local Thai pharmacy, eat some Pad Thai, exchange some USD into baht at the airport, then hit the bars. Sound good?

Ahhhhhhyes!

Ahyes, The stoney monday is a new hotel so not many bms would have stayed in it, I remember jonny telling me on his last trip that he took a walk up to it and it took him a good 15mins to walk to it from bangla rd, But he said it was a really nice hotel but it was'nt for him because of the long walk, So if you dont mind walking id say its a great place to stay which is why ill be staying there in april, If you want more information on this hotel give onlocation a private msg because he stayed there and he highly recommends it, Hope this will help you a bit, have a great trip.

Ps?

OK. SO where is this PS hotel, what's the full name? As for Stoney M, yeah, 15 mins is not bad for me, but I am thinking its too much for the girls. We know I don't want them to be too tired!

Club Andaman is just too expensive for my taste, but looks great. So, maybe I'll try to get something that is closer to the action.

What about electrical converters? Do I need a converter for my US razor? Where do I go to exchange US into baht, or can I just give the girls USD?

Hi ahyes
To answer your questions
1 PS Hotel is the full name. You can find it at www.pshotel.com
2 It is located in Rat- u -Thit Road about 5mins walk from Bangla Rd near to Soi Sunset.
3 The voltage in Phuket is 240v but I dont know what you use in USA.Most plugs are 2 pin round.
4 What is your budget for accomodation. You can find a good hotel for 600baht going up to 1500 a night in Nov.there are about 42baht to the $
Enjoy your stay

You can exchange your US $ at one of the many money changers around Patong. You will get the best rate here as well.

Ok here's the info for newbies

It all depends on how you get around the island. I suggest if you stay more than than a couple of days rent a motorbike from Nicke or elsewhere and have complete freedom to go to great beaches (Leam Sing), go to my restaurant The Red Room (plug plug) or elsewhere. At night if your drunk you can take Tuks Tuks or even motorcycle taxis which are cheaper and all over.
Stoney Monday is close to the action but better to take a motorcycle taxi for 20 baht to and from the hotel to Bangla.
If you want something really cool, great view and more I personally live at The Hilltop hotel it's got a pool, bar and it's very cool and serene. A little more expensive then Stoney or C&N but a great view and quiet.

Also my restaurant(plug plug) will do hotel pick ups if you call for free so you can just drink and party.

If you stay long time Tuks Tuks can get expensive and don't forget to bargain as they are a bit of a ripoff here on the island compared to Bangkok.

Cheers!

Last time I was in Phuket I stayed at the Duangit Resort. It is just off the main beach road going towards Kata / Karon. It is a huge resort and has the most amazing swimming pool I have ever seen at any hotel. The new building by the larger pool are clean and very nice. In the low season you will only pay around 1000 baht per night, maybe less. It too is a little bit of a walk home from Bangla road, about 15 minutes. I always found that this walk helped sober me up a bit before the in room olympics began!!

Check this place out is all I have to say.

Happy Hunting!

Ashley.

According to the website : http://www.duangjit.com/
the lowest rate is between April 21st - October 31st , costing 2,050 baht per night.
I do sincerely hope you are not giving out false information when you state it will only cost 1000 baht per night in low season

frog's hotel

last time i went to patong i stayed too at the duangjit resort, i went in april and i stayed at the rooms nearest to the pool, i think the best ones, i have my breakfast included and it cost me more or less 2,100 baths per night for 3 person staying 2 nigths...
but i didn't reserve it from the oficial web of the hotel or other web, i just went to a travel agency in bangkok, in khao san road to specificate and i told the woman that was there that i wanted to go to phuket, she said that duanjit was really nice but she had to speak with the hotel because we didn't want to spend too much money, soo she call to the hotel and after giving low and up prices, she let us 2,100 baths per nigth in a room with 2 beds and one extra bed, i recomend this hotel everybody because the place i think is really beautifull, it has big gardens with coconuts, and a big pool with bar, thay have internet for the customer to use and some excursion, the breakfast is thai buffet, american buffet and european buffet, if you have to go to the airport, they prepair you a box with some juice, biscuits, soo you can
