not sure ij, but maybe it has something to do with luggage, there are some carriers in oz that give cheap deals but you can only take carry bags only no checked bags, perhaps cathay is the same, just a thought, although it would be strange on long haul.

best airline i have ever flown
make sure you get to airport early
i flew out of LA once and got there 2:15 before flight and almost didnt make it to check in
tons of Intl flights go down to SoAmer and CentAm and the security check was so long!~

Do Cathay Pacific operate directly into Phuket?
It seems that I can get good deals with CX from London to Hong Kong, now all that I need is a direct connection to Phuket.

Flights in and out of the US/CAN are generally a lot more liberal when it comes to checked luggage. Depending on the carrier and elite status it generally ranges from 2 x 50 lbs to 3 x 70 lbs. Any flight in and out of GB, AU, NZ, etc is restricted to 50 lbs per bag, even when that carrier normally allow 70 lbs.
Non US/CAN carriers usually have different rules for itineraries that includes a US/CAN destination/origination from those that do not; this may very well include Cathay Pacific.
I am not sure if Canadian luggage allowances are always like the US, but I think so.

It's Dragon Air from HKG to HKT. I booked the same flight LAX to HKT for Oct. 3rd yesterday at $1084.00....so $950.00 was a steal. With fuel prices rising...the sub $1000.00 flights are a rare find.

I called their eticket phone line. The lady told me no restrictions on luggage. She told me where to get the fair rules for the restricted ticket. Its basically penalties for cancellation or change of dates.
I bought it for 950 bucks. Last thursday it was $899, but the next day it went up.
Thanx for the info guys. See you september.
