Internet booking of hotels

Hello Folks.
Has anybody experience with booking a hotel in Phuket over one of those Internet Reservation Systems? Found a couple of them but mostly based in Asia. I wonder how secure they are. That means can you really be shure
to get your voucher when you have paid/ and is the voucher really accepted by the hotel. We have a lot of reports in the press of fraud in this sector. Some people paid and never got a voucher or they arrived and found out that the voucher is a fake. The Hotel never received a reservation or any money so peoples had to pay a second time.
So if anybody is used to book his hotel this way and can recomend me a special company/internet reservation system he has used sucessfully i would apreciate this help.
Best wishes to all.

I can guarantee you that if you book your stay with the online reservation system on this website you will not be cheated.

In many cases you can get a better price if you don`t book in advance. Just go to phuket and drive with taxi to a hotel. (just my experience).

I have used Expedia.com a few times to book an hotel in various countries. The first time, it was for the Sheraton at Brussels airport. I was a little bit scared by their system (you give your name and your credit card information and that's all: the room is paid !!). I'm very satisfied with their system and never encountered problems.
Regards,
Bobby

Thank you all for the advice. The idea of looking for a hotel when you arrive is good. But this time I thik I try the system on Nickes page. They seem to make pretty good prices.
See You.

Best to negotiate direct with the hotel either by email before you leave home or by just going into reception when you arrive, but don't tell the taxi driver what you are up to or he will try and get a cut.

If it is a busy season perhaps best to book ahead.

I have just checked the prices on internet, Phuket Hotels above, and the rate I actually paid for the same hotel for the same period was THB 2100 a night while if I booked over the internet it would be 5400.

As the "High Season" will have started I wouldn't hold out too much hope of a discount at Patong Villa. Its a very nice hotel and will be busy if there are lots of tourists in town.Personally I would book over the web as the saving you would make if you got a discount would be very small. At least your room there is assured and you wouldn't have to go elsewhere to find a room.
I hope you enjoy your holiday there.

Hola Surfer Girl!

Hola hermana!

I think the best thing to do is to get the email address of the Hotel you like, send them an email and ask for their price. Once they reply and if you are happy with the price, confirm it with them by email. Remember to print out their email, take it with you and show it to the hotel when you get there. Es facil!

Estoy seguro que te disfrutaras tus vacaciones!
