the owners(maybe previous now) are gay and they do get some gay clientele
they were very good people
and man, they were good on the piano 55555
(actually the piano player is not gay)

I stayed at Ban Yin Dee as well.
As Marc26 said, the (owners) were really pretty nice guys. (gay or not)
The piano bar was a lot of fun also. I grabbed the mic one night and gave a fair rendition of Sinatra's "You Make Me Feel So Young", for my "date". (how appropriate, huh 55555)
All present enjoyed it though. And as I recall, there were about 5 or 6 "hetero" couples dining that night.

I've had a couple of nights at cc Blooms. It's a great 'out-of-the-way' location to take that 'special' lady (or bloke now I know they are listed as gay 'friendly'!) Not that I will be taking a bloke! Obviously!
It was all couples (Male and Female) when I was there and even stocked my favourite brandy in thier fantastic bar. Some of the best sunset views on Phuket IMHO.
Fantastic staff, very attentive. Unfortunately the rental on a one bed apartment there was outside my price range even though they offered me a half decent discount for a years contract.
Bit out of the way, you need transport, although they do have a beach service. I guess it's location is most of the appeal, it would be a pity if they started building around it, which I was assured they won't as cc blooms have bought most of the land surrounding the place! Famous last words!
Anyway, worth a look if you just want to chill with some quality brandy!

As long as its not a gay party hotel, then I wouldnt give a rats **** anyway.. In fact its highly likely your going to get a good decor, design, cleanliness etc.
Tho 'CC Blooms' does sound a bit light in the loafers..

i also felt a sort of "live and let live" attitude at BYD
i mean the owner always had different thai boys up there
but everyone, guests(straight and gay) and owners sort of did their own thing and co-existed
for me, they by far, treated Ao with the most respect out of any hotel we ever stayed in and they were great to Pa also, her friend that was always with us

Why were you trawling through gay websites in the first place if you have any sort of problem with 'them'?

CC Blooms is something to do with the film 'Beaches' and is to do with Lesbians. Which is the market the hotel is aimed at, hence the name, according to the Canadian/Thai owner.
Come to think of it I've stayed at Bamboo as well (When I wanted to get a little closer to Sefton 555555) OK, OK he lived up the hill a bit, Jeez, that sounds even worse.............Shovel, keep digging. It was nice enough but starting to get a bit jaded, needs a investment in new towels and bed linen IMHO.
Again, just my opinion, but it would seem that if you do a search for 'Boutique' style accommodation on Phuket it kinda throws up these places, perhaps Google have a Boutiques and Gay/Lesbian thaaaang going on!

As a means of checking which hotels are likely to be predominantly gay. It has to do with what kind of surroundings you feel comfortable in I suppose. I would never spend an evening in a gay bar for the same reasons.

Actually, I found the gay site I mentioned quite by accident. I was researching hotels some time ago and noticed on the Siam Palm site @ Phuket Hotels: Siam Palm Great Accommodation in Patong Beach Phuket | Room Rates that they mentioned accepting DreadNed and Utopia discount cards (foot of the page). I didn't know what those were and googled both. One of the links led me to the DreadNed site.

Can't agree with you there at all. True they're not so open about it, but gays will want to stay where they can meet likewise company. And for the same reason that we search for GF friendly places, gays won't want to suffer the embarassment of having their BF refused for the night and will research the subject accordingly.
If that wasn't the case, then sites like these wouldn't stay in business for very long.

but what i was saying is that me, a straight man, would not even think to look and see if a hotel is gay friendly
i wouldnt go looking to see if a hotel is gay friendly so that i could rule it out
i am not saying there is anything wrong with doing that, people have a right to choose to stay in any type of hotel they like
it just never occured to me look for that
by the way, in NYC, a lot of gay bars have rainbow flags hanging outside, if i saw one i wouldnt go in because it is not my demographic

So you're saying then that having determined that a particular hotel which you'd never stayed at before, but which didn't reject overnight guests, you went ahead and booked in. Then the next morning over breakfast you discover that the entire clientele are male, some holding hands and maybe giving you a few winks on the side as well, that it wouldn't bother you?
