Ayutthaya

I am hoping to stay in Ayutthaya for one night at the end of the month. I have looked at the guide books for accommodation but there seems to be very little of decent quality (i.e. none gets a good write up from the top to bottom class.

Does anyone know of a good place to stay there?

Also, does anyone know how long it takes by bus or taxi to Don Mueng airport in Bangkok?

Can't help you with hotels, but the bus is approx 2hrs to Don Muang Airport.
Only guessing that a taxi would be around 1.5hrs.

The train from Don Muang is the way to go IMHO. I've stayed at the River Place View and it was OK, but a bit out of the way. Great restaurant on the river nearby.
