Question Hotel suggestions

I am staying, again, at the Orchidacea Resort (formerly Pop Cottage) in Kata Beach over New Year and from there we regularly go to Karon and Patong in the evenings. But I have just changed my schedule and now have another 2 days available in Phuket. So I thought I'd try someplace different, a different area, so that I get to see a bit more of Phuket. Is there some other beach/resort on Phuket that I should definately see on my trip ?

Can anyone suggest somewhere to stay for 2 nights along with the name of a reasonable hotel. By reasonable I mean a family'ish hotel so not a back-packers cheap joint, not too expensive, has a nice pool, is cleaned regularly and also girl friendly/no charge .. just in case

Is there anything worth looking at north of Patong for example? If its near Patong, then near enough to get there at nights if needed but quiet and free from beer noise ?

Thanks for your help

Kalim Bay

Kalim Bay is classed as North patong. On my last two trips to patong i've stated in a excellent hotel called Sunset beach and it sounds right up your street.Away from the main beach road area, so its nice and peaceful, but only a few minutes tuk-tuk journey away.Reasonabaly priced not over expensive.very clean and brilliant service, small beach at front of hotel, not brilliant but only 5 min walk to patong beach, and i will be retuning for my trip in november.

do what u want to do,after all,it is up 2 u!

the hotel i always stay in is Baan Yin Dee. it is very nice, costs about 5000/baht in high season, but if you are looking to splurge, the food is great, and the staff is tremendous. they treat my TG very nice and as long as you dont make a bunch of noise, no problem with the girls

Kalim Residence in Kalim is a very nice hotel suitable to families, you rent a 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen. Thai style designed hotel.

thanks folks.

Other than Patong and Kata Beach, are there any other locations in Phuket that are worth a look at for a couple of days or are they the 2 main attractions on the island?

I've done a snorkelling trip out of Phuket Harbour, the elephant jungle ride, and seen Wat Chalong (sp?).

Anyplace else I should check out? I believe Phuket town is dirty so been told to give that a miss.
