khon kaen

i am planning on going to khon kaen for 3-4 days in december when i come back.
what i want to no is,hotel wise,will i have to prebook being hi season or is it pretty quiet up there.also what sort of prices can i expect to pay and any1 recomend any hotels there.also what sort of prices will i be paying for eating and drinking?????and finally is there a bg scene of any kind up there??

I have been to Khon Kaen many times

If you want a budget hotel, about same standard as C&N then try Pi Pi Hotel, its right in the centre of Khon Kaen. Expect to pay about 4-500 baht per night. There is no real low/high season and reckon you dont need to book in advance, I never have and have stayed there 4 times........

Nightlife is really good, lots of bar/discos full of LBFM's and just a few farangs. The girls are well up for it and you will be quite an attraction as most of the farangs are older. All the bars are clustered near each other so you wont have far to walk. Ive beeb told the disco inside the Sofi Hotel is really good but never managed to get there due to being the usual pissed. One point to not you wont gwet the same selection of drinks and its normal habit to buy drinks by the bottle (thai style) usually the choice is whisky and whisky. Other than that you can get beer

Hi steve ,
last year stayed at the Sofitel in khon kaen , brilliant hotel , great rooms , 1,000baht a night all year round , they have an entertainment complex in the basement , with disco,massage,karaoke and bars , no joiner fee and you can get the lift straight from the bar/disco whatever direct to your room , avoiding going past reception , it,s also in a good central location near all the action..

KK is north east of bkk, about 6-8 hrs on the vip bus. Famous in LOS for it's university. Many BG's come from the area, I believe....

my question is about the flights up there, i was thinking of leaving it untill i was phuket to book the flights at an agent or via the web,
then take pot luck on a hotel when i arrived ,how was you thinking of doing it ?

Another suggestion if you want a mid range hotel try Princess Hotel.

3-4 days in KK is plenty. My 2 days was enough in April and F**k was it hot about 42 deg each day but I think Dec is the cooler time there.

Anyway... Enjoy... KK women are beautiful

Sounds like it might be a twin wedding, just make sure you know its happening.
Take a look at my photos on Geespot Returns almost thread, if you experience anything like this then you know you are in the shit

Reckon I will be going back to Scotland for Christmas or else I might have been in Khon Kaen myself.

Remember it is likely your girls will stay in a village in Khon Kaen district which is huge so if you rough it you might end up quite far from Khon Kaen city, best to hire a car!!!

You can get flights with Thai Air and Air Asia, you wont have a problem about booking or for hotels. Sofi Hotel is really good and if Tomayan says its 1000 baht per night then I would go for that, it's a 5 star hotel
