2hrs or something on way over and way back.

I've been quoted £797:00 uk pounds from Manchester, Zurich, Phuket. I could go from London but travelling down there from Liverpool and taking into account petrol, carparking, trains, time, bother ect, this maybe worth it....

That seems exceptionally high, I'd be expecting that price to cover accommodation in Phuket too!

When are you planning to go? If I were you I'd look into MAN to BKK and add a £50 AirAsia return flight to HKT from BKK. Many more options flying into BKK (or indeed KUL or SIN) from MAN than HKT.

Try using lastminute.com to get a range of prices.

For example, an average price in late October for MAN to BKK is £480 (Etihad). Add £50 for BKK to HKT with AirAsia and you're saving £260

$320.00 Gold Coast - Bangkok return, connections Kuala Lumpur. Thats Air Aisa early October. Turn around time at KL is around 3 hours so no delays would be a good thing.

Dave 22 look at travelsupermarket.com - the travel comparison site prices to bangkok from Manchester for the above dates are around £500

Then you could get a flight from bangkok to Phuket
Thai Airways - Online Ticket Reservation
Bangkok Airways :: Asia Air Travel, Airlines, Flights, Samui Thailand
Welcome to AirAsia.com...now everyone can fly...

that would be the best way around. £797 is way too much

I'd do some searches using kayak.co.uk
e.g Liverpool-Bankgkok for you dates from £535 then currently £75ish for the Phuket flights.
Cheaper if you do the long leg from other airports.

Forget to mention that on current trends, prices get cheaper nearer the time, because airlines are struggling, no guarantee in the future of course...

Ok I'm guessing you're going SwissAir, I see a price on lastminute.com for them those dates, MAN - ZRH - HKT for £733 I guess that's ok as it's only a one stopper. Most alternatives will have 2 stops. But I'm already £63 ahead

IF (big if) you don't mind doing two stops you could get Finnair MAN - HEL - BKK for £518 and then an AirAsia to HKT for £30 (return)

But... up to you

Lat month I paid € 643 for a return ticket Amsterdam-Bangkok with China Airlines. Had an upgrade to business class on the way out because of my frequent flyer miles.

Got a good deal at $794 AUD return on Malaysian Air in November from Perth. There is a stopover on both legs, but since it's $250 cheaper than anyone else could offer me I dont mind. Gets me into Phuket at 0945 which is cool.

The trip was great. Also took your advise and reneted a car from Lek in Udon. Good people and a decent car for a really fair price. And the diesel is sooooo cheap!

Cheap flights search engine

I've always used Asia Travel Market - Compare prices for your holidays and then checked on last minute.com. You won't find any screaming bargains from tinpot airlines but you will find the cheapest regular flights. LDN-HKT rtn in Sep for £515
