safari Beach Hotel questions

Can anyone give me some recent info on Safari Beach Hotel please?

I have found a good deal for the Contemporary Thai - Deluxe room, but
was wondering if anyone has stayed in this room and would recommend?

My other choice would be the Exec Deluxe Room at Baipho. Has the construction nearby stopped (I think at Sino House!)

Cheers

was there in april.
pay a bit more for the new block.
well worth the money.
the one u stated is ok but the older block.
and if u have big feet, ask for the first floor.
i remembered a few drunken nights where i couldn't get my footing right up to my 2nd floor (yes, no elavators)

I stayed in the Thai Deluxe at the beginning of the year, great room for the price. It's not as flashy as the Safari Deluxe but it is a big room, free wifi, and you will never have to pay a tuk tuk to take you home (assuming you spend your nights on Bangla like I did). I also liked it that the breakfast was served till 1:00pm as I always seem to miss those early breakfasts. And you have the beach right across the street.

I have stayed several times in the deluxe sea view rooms (there's only 2) right on the beach. They're right above the Savoey (beachside) restaurant and are very nice. A bit pricey, but well worth it IMHO. Literally 1 min walk to Bangla and less to the beach. I'm booked in there for a week in September.

The bed's a bit hard, but its big, so plenty of room for BGs 555555

Link below gives pics of the looms, pool etc...

I stayed there recently (April '09). If you book online at latestays.com you will get an excellent rate. It ticks all the boxes for me, namely:

-Close to Bangla
-Large comfortable accommodation
-No joiner fee
-Internet access
-Friendly staff
-Swimming pool
-Relatively cheap

The Thai Deluxe rooms have all the creature comforts you'll need.

I've stayed in the Safari Beach Hotel numerous times over he years and really enjoy the hotel. It's in a great location and the staff is wonderful. I prefer the Safari Deluxe rooms to the Contemporary.

There are some other room options across the street, as mentioned by (another) MisterT. Advantages of those rooms are privacy, quiet and proximity to the beach. One disadvantage is that the pool is accross the street. The Seaview rooms are a bit out of my price range but there are other room options over there as well. Some smaller rooms and some larger (Junior Suite, Deluxe Seaview). The smaller rooms even have (second) shower outside the entrance door to wash of beach sand. Ask to see the beach side rooms when you are checking in to see if they will suit you. I've done that before and the staff is happy to accomodate if the rooms are available.

One thing to keep in mind when booking the Safari Beach these days is that the noise from the new, nearby disco has ruined the quiet well into the morning for the rooms in the main part of the hotel. The noise isn't outrageous but it is annoying (muffled woomp, woomp, woomp...) The last time I stayed there I just kept the earplugs they gave me on my flight and used those. I wasn't going to let the noise discourage me from staying at an otherwise wonderful hotel. Noise has not been an issue for me at the beach side rooms.

If you do stay in the main part of the hotel in a Thai Contemporary room, don't stay in the rooms on the very north end, farthest from the office. There is a ventilation fan that makes quite a racket down there. I suspect that the noise from the disco would be louder at that end of the complex also. I stayed in the end room once and asked to be relocated to another room. (I wish I had my earplugs that time...)

All this might sound a little negative about the Safari Beach Hotel but that's not my intention. I really do like the hotel for many reasons and will stay there again next trip. I just wanted to point out a few things that may help you make your decision. I hope it helps.
