From Phuket to Bangkok/Hatyai
I will be staying in Phuket for 7 days. Would like to drop by Hatyai/Bangkok for a day. Which bus/train should I take? How long is the journey?

Fly
If you want to go to Bangkok "for a day" you should fly fly fly. Because it will take at least 13 hours on the bus and even longer on the train. 1 hour on the plane, and Air Asia has pretty reasonable rates.
