Air Asia

I've just been reading a first-hand account of what it was like to be caught up in in the tsunami by someone staying at Kamala beach. After a quite harrowing account with lots of thanks to various people who were incredible with the help they gave he finishes with the following and it's the last time I'll use Air Asia:

"Finally NO-THANKS to Air Asia who wouldn't allow us to use our return ticket without paying a surcharge/buying a new return ticket for not being able to travel for lack of travel documents and who didn't let us board the 7am flight which was delayed to 2pm while we checked in for our 1.30pm flight at 12 noon resulting us needing to stay on at the airport till our flight left at a very delayed time of 8pm (without periodical information so that passengers could find a hotel room nearby to rest) and whose offer of the use of a wheelchair at KLIA came with a demand of RM12 without any prior notice. This would be the last time I'll be travelling Air Asia and if any of you guys who need to make schedules stick better think of other airlines which are more compassionate"

Emirates - a little different

We flew on Emirates out of Bangkok. They really could not do enough for us. The flight was full and many of the people had no luggage and no passports. At the transit in Dubai my little son Alex was taken to the hospital and given a full medical. He was diagnosed with Scarlet Fever as apparently many of the people in Patong now have this condition as it is being carried in the water supply. The medical team at Dubai were coping with many many casualties incredibly efficiently. It would have put our own NHS to shame. After the hospital visit Alex and I were taken to the First Class lounge where we were given a full meal and then escorted to our flight by a Senior Flight Assistant. Emirates were flying people out of the area with no tickets and no passports.

I shall definitely fly Emirates again.

UAE is always a good airline.. Not too pricy either but superb service..

If they did not make me hop in Dubai I would use them more..
