Try www.airlinenetwork.co.uk
www.dialaflight.co.uk
www.ebookers.co.uk
Low season June to Oct is cheapest time to visit
Good airlines to BKK are Thai Air,Eva Air,Emirates(via Dubai),Qatar Airways(via Doha) China East has its followers as well.
Type the airlines into the search at top of page and you should get some reviews

When i was looking a few days back, Maylasian Air was doing a special to Phuket. If i remember it was £390 + taxes, so about £440 overall. This was with dial-a-flight which is linked to above.
In the Escape section of the Guardian last Sunday, there were a number of agencies listing prices to Bangkok from £320 upwards. But these i would of thought would be dependent on the usual things (i.e. Travel dates, number of stops).

This site is worth a look and shows flights from all UK airports, pick you destination first and then select the airport you wish to leave from.

Good luck
