Talking Status of GreenView Resort? + Review

Anyone know the status of old Greenview Resort? Briefly, stayed there on my first tour (May 2002), and it's fair to say it was basically heaven on earth: cheap; clean; guest-friendly; pool, hottub, and spa, and also generally very fun and active. In short, you could just stay there and have the most fun of your life, not to mention even heading down to Banla Road! You could even meet attractive Thai ladies right there at the pool!!! Too good to be true? Apparently...

Then I returned on second tour (and last in June of 2003. Still cheap, guest-friendly, and clean, but....pool was in disrepair and indeed dangerous (loads of extremely sharp, broken tiles, cut myself rather badly), hottub was anything but hot, and it was dead, dead, dead--a completely different scene from only one year prior...Amazing how quickly things can change in Phuket.

Two q's: 1) Anyone know if it's still open, and what's it like now? and, 2) can anyone recommend a similiar place (guest friendly, reasonably priced, pool, and clean)? Need NOT be in immediate walking distance of Bangla (Greeview isn't, but I always rent a bike).

Thanks in advance and all comments/suggestions appreciated!

Yes, it is open. I went with Ozskin and Jonas for sauna and swimming pool maybe 10 days ago. I also noticed the pool had sharp areas so be careful but the place is still popular among expats and BGs.

I stayed there myself 1999 and paid 500 baht per night.

Thanks for the quick response, Nick!

And terrific news, too. I was afraid it may have closed down...Really glad you came thru the tsunami ok, by the way.
