Accomodation Query

Quote: "i been to thailand before but stayed in a hotel. this time i have only book flight , "

Hi newbie,
So i guess this time you want to stay in some other form of accomodation besides hotel. Since you only have flight arranged, then i recommend the corridor of the 3rd floor of the airport terminal just outside the Thai Airways Catering Restaurant, its free and last that I know is still vacant. I slept there on 27 Dec 2005 and was served free water and packed food.
Alternatively i can recommend patong beach where there are deck chairs which is also free as long as you check in after the owner packs up for the day.
Ok ok, jokes aside then, we need to know when you coming in to Phuket and what sort of accomodation/budget you are looking at. If you are looking at budget accomodation in guesthouses during this period, it should be no problem getting a room at a decent price. BUT... if you are coming in around April 12 period, I would advise you book a room cos its songkran and lots of visitors expected.
Welcome to our forum..... hmmm (whispering) please read the other posts just further down and you will find all your questions answered, rather then start a new thread.

Sorry i got the year wrong, should be 27 Dec 2004, not 2005. Guess the pain in my leg from the fall in the water has got my years all jumbled up.

Book a place for the first night, then shop around. You don't want to be running around trying to find a place, especially if your flight was delayed.

Its amazing how many times this question is asked. Although there are heaps of rooms available in Patong at the moment, if I was arriving from a long international flight the last thing I would want to be doing was trying to find a hotel room.

Went to the Baan Sukothai the other day to checkout prices for my mum, and they are quoting pre tsunami prices, so perhaps walkin rates are back to normal.

Agree with stevem, I did this once and it was a pain in the ass looking at lots of hotels when you could be at the beach or doing something better just book online the walk in rates aren't any cheaper.

Gosh, that means high season prices again. I was hoping that they all join in with Tourism Authority of Thailand's effort to bring life back Phuket by keeping costs low for potential tourists.

I even am guessing that airlines are being subsidised greatly in this recent price promotions worldwide. Tickets from Singapore to Phuket on Tiger Airways are S$9.98 or abt US$6 one way.

Anyway on a brighter note, my calls to a number of guesthouses near Bangla shows lowers prices quoted by them.

Of cos no hard feelings at all. You caught me there. I clapped, so definitely no anger from me. Your cheergal is also stimulating me.Thanks.

Hard Feelings??? Hmmm.... Regretfully thats a pleasure I have lost since my heart failed me and I fear taking little blue pills to get that long lost "hard feeling". Might end up leaving Phuket in the cargo compartment if I try for that "hard feeling". LOL.

Hope to catch up or meet up when our dates cross. Maybe at MTB or at Club Rio where I play pool whenever I am in Phuket. My frequency in LOS is about 1 week per month. Cheers.

I find it is the best if you walk in the hotel and ask for the price.
So I often have got a better offer than in the Internet.
But you should go to the hotel without baggage. If one appears with a lot of baggage, they know that you just arrive and need a room. Than the price is mostly a little bit higher.

normally I book a room for the first 2 nights on internet, and the LAST night too. Therefore I have the possibility to leave my big suitcase with winterclothes for Europe in the locker room, while I travel around. Have normally a rucksack and a foldable bag with me, this is enough for cruising around in Phuket.
