Recommendations for hotel in Patong Beach area?

Dear All

Hope you can help.

I'm heading to Thailand and specifically Phuket tomorrow for a week or so and as the first part of the last leg of my RTW trip.

I'm a single female traveller and looking to stay in a nice hotel, not too posh, but somewhere with ideally a pool or access to one nearby, a fridge in my room, a good telly to crash out and watch and that sort of thing. Also, one that can provide a dvd player'd be nice or advise on where to rent one if all else fails.

Somewhere within walking distance of the beach and shops would be great too.

Am looking to pay an absolute max of 1200 baht per night and would prefer around 800 to 1000 baht if possible. Have looked at a myriad of sites but all I've succeeded in doing is give myself a headache!

Ones I have looked at are:

Swiss Village Hotel
Le Tong Hotel
Orchid Residence

and Leelawadee Boutique.

Does anyone know about these hotels and if they're any good, or does anyone have any recommendations for any other hotels I could try in the area?

Thanks in advance for your help. If all else fails, will just book somewhere for one night and then explore on Thursday.

Cheers
Toni

Hi Toni

May be too late as your post was yesterday and you were leaving today.

The Patong villa is very comfortable, TV, fridge, and pool. it's close to the shops and beach.

Not sure about the dvd bit though.

It's 1400 Baht a night at the moment.

I booked through Sawadee.com if you book direct from their website they mentioned faxing information, you could try emailing them or phoneing when you get there as hotels are not that full at the moment.

Stayed in Leelavadee Boutique in November.
Newly built hotel at the south end of Patong, just beside C&N Resort, just over the street crossing to Karon.
Rooms are first class, good furniture and silent working aircon, breakfast ist guesthouse like, very simple. There is a nice pool in the middle of the area, very quiet since blocked by the reception area.
You have to walk three staircases up to your room. Therefore not recommended, if you are handicapped.
They offer dinner, but it is very simple, thai food. Therefore
- best quality for sleeping but go out eating somewhere else.
