I think "cheap places" are guestfriendly. Expensive hotels are not.

??????? I've always stayed there and never had any problems bringing back BGs. No joiner fee, no hassle.
Have they changed their policy/attitude?

Im not sure the airport is in stumbleing distance of bangla though.
I stay at the Patong villa this time of year there are rooms from 1400 Baht per night, well within stumbleing distance and girl friendly.

Cheers for the list allybabba, i am now booked into the expat from next monday until thursday, the main thing was the writing on the website stating that there is no charge for overnight visitors, we will then be looking around to see what kind of deals are available
Anybody else going to be in the expat on these days????

Tara Patong is in Patong as you certainly know, but you can book a hotel on the airport like in BKK airport or Chiang Mai, and sometimes at a good rate.
My friend registered with his Tai Pan "steady" (?) girl, so no hassle about joiner fees.

So its not guest friendly then Captain because you can do that at every hotel once you register a girl when you first arrive whether its your farang gf or thai gf you dont have to pay any extra once you book a double room, But if you were to bring a different girl there every night they would charge you a joiner fee

Gday there Marklaar.
I stayed at the expat hotel on my last two trips and found it great.
No joiners, nice pool, clean rooms and crawling distance from bangla rd.
Around 800-900baht for A/C.
Has fan rooms too.

Good luck

That was last July and it did spook the girls big time. I stayed there right after this and it was very quiet, they had to renew a lot of the rooms as well but I don't know if the two things were related. I checked out after one night.
I reckon that most of the girls will be over it by now, lots of them will be new in town so would not remember it anyway. It's a good tip though, because they are a superstitious lot and you don't want them getting cold feet because of ghosts, I would mention the hotel by name and see if there is any reaction.

Thanks guys for bringing up the subject ,I thought of doing it myself ,but I was to afraid of that it would cause negative publicity for my dear old Expat ,
have stayed there twice before and I`m staying there from 24.march !!
Just gonna stay away from room 120 (or was 105 ?)

My first trip to LOS (last year) I stayed at Thara Patong and paid no joiner fee. I asked them up front about a joiner fee, then printed out the email and brought it with me in case there was any dispute. The girls did have to drop their ID off at the front desk but that was no big deal, and for my "protection" in case of theft. There never was any dispute or problem bringing girls there....and I brought a lot of em....

This sounds like good news, maybe it is no longer an issue. I do hope so because the people at the Ex-Pat have been great every time I stayed. When did you stay there?

I think that this is exctly the right approach. I was quoted joiner fees at the C&N and Salathai resort last August. We have been through this on another thread and it seemed like I was the only person in the world that this had happened to, but it did.
If you get an e-mail from them and take it with you it clears up the whole question on check in. An excellent tactic

Hi Diz; we went through this on another thread, so sorry to drag up an old topic, but no. Both hotels were down to their last couple of rooms and I actually had a girl with me, and who was checking in with me. I did ask the question of them 'will you charge me extra for my girlfriend', and the answer I got in both places was pretty much the same; 'if she checks in with you, no problem, if you bring a different lady home each night then we charge 300baht'
I stayed at the C&N 4 times in 1997 and was as surprised as anybody, but that is what happened in August 2004.
I've said it before, but I like the idea of getting their terms in writing and an e-mail is a great tactic for doing just that.
