Hi all technologically oriented BMs,
I'm a person who always has laptop with me when travelling, even on my vacation - keeping eye on my work things and getting connected by e-mail with relatives in my home country.
This time on Karon Beach, hotel South Sea Resort, I used for connection hotel phone dial-up with GRIC connection, but due to my home ISP dumb action, the connection was not allowed on second week.
Having nice laptop with inbuilt WiFi , I tried then to find local Internet shop having this facility.
There was one advertising WiFi service in road close to Karon traffic circle.
So I paid some money for half an hour, connected WiFi - but for my big surprise hotspot had so tight security settings, that no e-mail transaction was possible.
Really no sense to carry Your own laptop for simple Internet surfing, it is much easier with locally installed desktop computers.
Also WiFi was there rather expensive ( I think it was 50 or 100 Bht for half an hour, and then You had to pay more, when using longer time).
I was really disappointed with this service (absence of e-mail service at all).
Then thanks to Windows XP OS, when I logged to WiFi, I saw that there were other hotspot signals available.
So I went to the lobby of neighbouring Little Mermaid hotel, and got nice, high speed and e-mail allowed service there.
You have to pay 20 Bht per connection, and that's all.
Sometimes hotspot went down for short time, but generally I would like to recommend this place, if You will be needed to connect using WiFi.
Baltic,
now back in very cold

Estonia...
I hope this information will help some of BMs
