Would like other board members' advice on what is the most economical way to puchase airline ticket from HKT to BKK.

Is it cheaper to book ahead of time instead of at the airport counter? And if so how far ahead would the price make a difference? Or what about over the Internet compare to in person, say at a travel agency? Which airlines has the best value: Nokair, Air Asia, Bangkok Air...?

Many thanks for any suggestions and recommendations.

Purchased a one-way ticket from Phuket to Bangkok for 1100 baht at a travel agency the day before I left, back in december.

The very helpful employee at the agency just filled in a form on internet. No profit for the agency involved. Unfortunately she put in the wrong date in and my ticket was non-refundable, so I had to book another one on my credit card (LOL). Total costs 2200 baht for 2 tickets .....

Still not bad I think. Next time I'll fill in the form myself though at an internet shop.

I only needed to tell the flight confirmation number at the Nokair check-in desk, which was sent to me by email and sms. Most important thing was the plane left on time.

The only downside was I did not get a can of coke in the airplane. I assume all the cheap Charlies were in front of the airplane and they just skipped the first 10 rows before handing out drinks.

If you know when you need to travel, then book in advance using one of the cheap low cost carriers via the net, as their cheap seats are limited and go first. This assumes that your not in a hurry or your travel plans are such that delays and cancellations will not be a problem to you.

When we travel to Bangkok we just turn up at the airport and get on the next flight, but we always use Thai. Only once have we had to upgrade to business class due to economy being full.

Not sure, will need to check the card receipts at home. But it wasnt the full price.
