Patong Villa
I stayed at Patong Villa in feb 2005. It is a nice hotel closed to Bangla and the beach. Good restaurant and service. I asked here on the board if it was girlfriendly and got positve answer. I did however mailed them and asked if they charged for a joiner and they said no.
But when i come with a BG they wanted 300 bath. I told them I will not pay coz i have been promised no joiner fee. But they put it on my bill.
The next day I went to an internetcafe´and printed out the mail I got from their boss Mr Surasak about no joiner fee, and aked them to speak with him.
Then I did not have to pay for my BG. I booked 6 days by www.latestays.com/ and payed 900 bath. It was a nice place so I told them the second day that I want to stay another five days if I can have the same price. They said it will be no problem, book later. So I did, but they wanted 1100 bath. A new mail to Surasak and then it was 900 bath.
I can recomend this hotel but have all issues clear before paying.
Next time I visit Patong I will try to find a room at Geirs place. If it sold out I stay at Patong Villa. http://www.patongvilla.com/

higher price
I just enquired as to patong villas rate at the end of April and they quoted me a price of 1500 baht for a standard room and 1700 for a deluxe. A bit on the high side for me considering I could probably get a walk in rate at most places nearby for under 1000baht.

Just returned from Patong and stayed at the Patong Villa for a rate of Bht 1700 a night.
Took a girl back the first night and had no problem with a joiner fee, the guard at the entrance took her id and she recovered it the next morning, she ended up staying with me for the whole four nights and days by the third day they didnt even ask for her id.

That's what I liked about Patong Villa
I've never had any problems at Patong Villa and agree with the comments posted above. It can be a hassle walking past the suit shop in the passage on the way out! But after two or three polite "'No Thanks" with a smile, they left me alone.
Guards always seemed alert, which is good on the security front, but bad when you feel like a skinny dip with your latest BG! Ah well, don't let the audience stop you from performing - The show must go on and all that!
Good situation, quiet enought to relax. Spacious and clean rooms. Good room service. Reliable (as in not stolen on last day) car and bike hire and a refreshing 'morning special' 1 hour (200Baht) start your day massage in the hotel spa before a dip in the pool, another coffee, a snoozette and a quick planning session on how to get past all the bars on Bangla on your way to MTB without getting dragged in to all of them!
High season prices seem a bit steep this year, but I have seen increases across the board and not specific to Patong Villa. It's good for me, so I am sticking with it

I stayed in Patong Villa last year around this time, and they gave me a headache when I got there. The lady at the desk told me that the rates has gone up. Thank goodness, I had a print out of all the emails I have sent to the person back and forth. I remember them trying to jack up the prices like 40%, from what I was quoted originally. Its a nice hotel and all but once they stop trying to rip you off you can enjoy yourself. I may stay there again, but getting some ridiculous and outrageous rates for the month of December through January.
Man !!! WHY OHHHH WHY did I book my trip in december!!! Regretting it everytime I look for rates on hotels.

Somethings never change.....
I stayed in Patong Villa in the spring of 97,in something that is to bee one of the weirdest hotel experience in LOS ever !!Straight away you could see that it was gonna bee one of this crazy holidays...lot of single guys in a 24-hour party-mood with their various thai girl (or LB) !!
Songkran was about to begin and everything is rocking, hell one of the norwegians, named Stig, even arranged a pool side party, buying a whole pig to spitroast .You did get the occasional small upsets, wrong bill from the bar,for the room and wrong laundry delievered, but in general everything was good !!
Then everybody got their first experience with the term "joiner fee". One morning a note was attached on the outside on every door stating "that a fee of 1.000 baht will be charged a night for visitors to your room" Furious, the guest went to the reception, demanding a explanation on what was going on !!
The manager was called and everybody explained to him there was no way we was gonna pay, some even checked out,but after a day or two he backed out of the "joiner fee scheeme" and everybody was happy
Later it was rumoured that the reason for the "joiner fee scheme" was a VERY high stake at the poker table ...anyway,I have never stayed there since, but maybee I`ll give it a try on my next trip as it was very convenient both in location and "guest friendliness "

Hi, I only just found this thread, planning a holiday early September. I sent an inquiry and got this response from Surasak.
"However , it's free of charge for lady joiner on over night."
I did ask about sofas as I want a nice place to sit and chill out and he(?) said
"Response to your request ,in every room types we have a sofa provided.
But in the superior room there are 2 small sofa for 2 peoples sitting and in the bungalow there have a bigger one. "
It's my understanding that it is not normal for Thais to have sofas and my friend tells me there isn't even a Thai word for it. So could someone confirm that he means a sofa or couch? I want a thick cushioned easy chair. This might sound like a small thing but it's important to me, I will be there for 2 weeks and need somewhere to relax and watch TV or read. Sitting on a bed is uncomfortable.
Thanks
Brett

Brett, if you want a comfy place to chill out head up to Club Rio, its air-conned, they have some really comfy sofas, you can read, watch TV, and some pretty young minxes will provide you with drinks and food. When you get bored of sitting around you can grab a game of pool or check your email for free. Its a really good place to hang out.
Most of the hotels I have stayed in in Phuket have a chair or sofa, but its not the most comfortable piece of furniture!

Hey Coolhand, thanks for the tip. I was in Patong Sept last year, some places I was the only customer and a lot of other bars make you feel like you have to grab a girl and go.

I've never experienced that in a couple of September visits to the LOS Atomu. Were there people in the bar before you became the only customer or was there nobody in there when you arrived? Never be made to feel like you have to grab and run! You are the paying customer in these places. Relax and enjoy it all Brett.

Denver, that was last year. The place was School Yard, or School Room. The go go bar where the girls wear school uniforms.
Also at Rock Ago go (?) while there was a few customers the girls were almost fighting over the customers. Well not quite. The night I went there I told the girls I didn't want any boom boom that night so they left me alone to find better pickings. With the few customers around they couldn't waste time on someone that was going to boom boom.

Thanks Atomu, Don't you just hate those bars were the girls dress up as schoolgirls! I was dragged (Kicking and screaming, I might add!) into one on Green Street in Pusan, South Korea. Horrid, Horrid place! Hated every minute, I had to put my clothes back on and leave.
I have nights like that Atomu, just don't want to be pestered (too much) just want to drink, relax, chat and look. I guess it was just quiet when you were there as so many folk are telling me it is this year. Then again, there are lots of posts about Patong being flooded with tourist and how so many people don't want that either! Sounds like a Catch 22. If I track you down Atomu we can do the drinky-chat-thing and set the world to rights. Take care mate.
