You could always book a couple of days at one and then go have a look at your other choice and decide whether to move hotels or not.Its going into low season now so rooms should be plentiful.

Stayed at the Aloha Villa last summer. 500 baht/night. Large, clean and comfortable rooms with a/c. Girl friendly, no joiner fees. Friendly, discreet and helpful staff.
Nice porch area at the front. A good place, at night, to have a beer with your mates and watch the babes/street life go by before hitting the scene. OK food but service is slow. Prefered to go to the food joints behind Tiger complex nearby.
Expat pool nearby, though I never used it. Overall, basic but a good deal and I recommend it.

Dont trust websites for low season prices..
Yorkshire inn on Sansabai runs a 500 or 700 baht price low season (I know I use the place for ST action at 500 when theres free rooms) online price is IIRC 900... Low season direct contact or walk in rates are usually the way to go..

same for all hotels??
Livinlos
Would you apply the same rule to all the hotels?? i am planning to stay at the ex-pat in 3 weeks time and will have to book it online before i leave here, i think the price was around 860, should i book only 2 nights and then try and get it cheaper after that??
i am more than willing to pay the price shown online but cheaper is always better.

ExPat is fine but you probably will not get it cheaper as a walkin. Aloha Villa is a good clean hotel with nice standard rooms but I have heard that they are trying to charge joiner fees now (never did before). There are plenty of good deals just now but be careful the Thai mentallity of put the price up when things are quiet is starting to bite.

Book in for a couple of days at C&N at least you get free airport pickup.
To be honest I can't be bothered walking around haggling hotels I'd rather just get on with my holiday.

i wasnt too impressed with the expat to be honest (sorry ij!) the pool is really good but the loom was a bit of a dump, the tv is hung from the ceiling by a pole and is enclosed in a metal cage i think it was made in the early 80,s ,not even remote control and crap programmes anyway and there are mozzies too ,(and the bugg*rs bite !) although the hotel is situated in a dead end soi so its quiet at night stay a couple of nights and have a look at some others thre are hundereds of hotels there to chooze from
