you also should join the frequent flyer programe, its star alliance which gives you the choice of many airlines to get miles, and with Thai, if you get 50,000 in 1 yr ,they give you a gold card and a free upgrade voucher for any standard fare ticket you buy, i used my last one on a round the world ticket , which cost 1000 gbp (economy ) and flew business, which is pretty medioca in thai but much better than cattle and saved me 2k english, if i would have bought a business class ticket.
And your sure to be back in LOS to get those miles, so make em count buddy.
You can even get a silver card with Thai ( 20.000 )and when your in BKK you can get priority check in and an extra 10 kgs of baggage , comes in handy for taking all the cheap ciggies back

Thai is alright - I used them home from BKK to CPH this time but I was in business (or what they now call Premium economy on that route).

Check out these links for more info:

http://www.seatguru.com/

http://www.airlinequality.com/Product/seat_intro.htm

I prefer SAS over Thai when going to Asia. Been to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore some times and SAS have good planes. Airbusses with good room and individual TV screens for each seat.

As Ratpack wrote do remember to sign up for their frequent flyer programme. The STAR alliance program is quite good and it does bring some really nice benefits with it.

I agree you should join the FF program but be aware that Thai have stopped awarding FF miles for the cheapest booking classes (£349 wil be on of those).

The best thing to do about leg room is check in nice and early B4 the seats go ask for an exit seat up the front you dont have to wait as long to get off and lots of leg room after some food and a few drinks pop a sleaping pill that way your ready to go when you get to LOS

Not as yet but are introducing them on the Airbus A340-500 long haul.
From UK you will most likely be on a 747 which doesnt have them yet.

You sure about this? my wife flew a very cheap flight recently between UK and Thailand and her miles were credited, just checked.

I should have said "about to stop awarding miles on the cheapest tickets" - takes effect from 1 June and applies to flights booked in W or V classes.

Travelled with Etihad to BKK in March/April. Recommend this airline, although pretty new they are very good.

Cheers, think I'll give them a go as Gatwick is more convenient than Heathrow for me. How long were the stops in Abu Dhabi? 2 hours or so?

Qatar are reasonable too.

( Subtotal tax inclusive £ 383.00 )

The stop on the way out was just right.Arrive Abu Dhabi 7 45pm just time for a smoke, stretch the legs and get some duty frees and leaves at 8 45pm,just one hour. Not sure about the return trip as I stayed over in AUH for a few days.Got a feeling its a long stop over on way back.I arrived in AUH at 12 30pm and flew out at 1 55am a few days later.Have a check on the timetable they have on their website www.etihadairways.com
I honestly feel that within 2yrs they will challenge Singapore for top airline.
