I take this to mean the Salathai would charge a joiner fee of 500 as this was also quoted from a agent on r24

Salathai sounds horribly expensive, I take it to mean that they are busy! I read it the same as you tho, joiner fee of 500baht, ouch! They would not be getting my money at those rates.

It certainly reads that way I would go with C&N if you are not sure or else email them back and plainly ask do you have a lady joiner charge if you do charge I will be forced to stay elsewhere or something along those lines. As stated in another thread someone new moves into management or the situation changes somehow and the rules suddenly change.

Go back to Salathai and tell them you don't want the massage or the set dinner (cancel the breakfast as well, if you won't get up in time). I reckon you should get it down to 2,200 to 2,400 baht/night with no joiner fee.

I went personally to Salathai in Feb. and askedd prices for my next visit to Patong. I was offered Salathai suite at 3000Bht in April - May. I specifically asked joiner fee and the answer was book the suite for 2 and no joiner fee (I have a friend who stayed there and paid no JF in November. You will pay joiner fee if you bring an extra (3rd) person to your room. Maybe that is what they mean by "to booked two people we have additional charge for extra person at 500 baht".
Why don't you mail them personally and tell them that you want to book for 2 people, and let them clear up for you?
I visited the Salathai suites, they have 3 or 4 I THink and it is a big room with a big bathroom (with bath).
I now stayed twice in a junior suite at Patong Bay Garden Resort. On the beach, 50 meters from Soi Bangla (opposite Patong Backery/Savoey Seafood) Booked for 2, normally JF, but as I booked for 2... Breakfast no good but I am never hungry in the morning. Paid 3000 as returning guest in (very) low season, expect to pay 3500/4000 in july.

Good price from C & N. I stay there all the time and that's the rate they quoted me. Mind you when I show up and haggle it would get lower. LOL. Just lately they wont budge on the price! Airport pickup always convinces me.

I wonder why Salathai is so expensive these days, I know they charged maybe 1100 baht/night about 2 years ago.
But I believe they have good business anyway, since it is often full and no rooms available.

They won't drop their rates to much for low season I don't know how full they get during this time it is a good hotel and I know they are always full during high season.

Salathai suite is a big suite with a big bedroom. Big bathroom with bath and a removable screen connecting it to the living room (nice to take a bath and have a eye to eye conversation with somebody in the livig room). They had 2 suites near Sawatdirak road and I think one inthe back behind the pool. I was a bit afraid of the streetnoise (Soi Seapearl music) but as those bars are closed as far as I know that problem should be finished. The 2 front suites don't have a good lookout from their window.

Come back from Phuket in mid May. I stayed at C&N Resort and Spa and felt good about it. Price is 1200 baths but we bargained for a 10% discount. Breakfast gave you no surprise but the South African bar next door offered good burger and breakfast. It is also a nice bar at night. Hairdresser at C&N Resort also cut my hair nicely.

I see the rate is 1400 baht/night if you book through this website for low season.
http://r24.org/phuket-info.com/phuket/salathai/
So contacting Salathai directly is obviously lot more expensive than booking online here.

I think it is dreadfull expensive and could not come to Phuket so often if I have to pay this rates!
Ok, I prefer to stay in Kata, but I pay 15.000 bath for a month in......december/januari!
If you have a look at the picture, the place is not too bad for that price!
This is just the living-room, there are two bedrooms, kitchen and a large bathroom!

I don't know how much in Patong......
But the only disadvantage I have here, is of course no pool. I love to read by the pool in the evening.
As I am a bit older, then most of you, I like quiet and peace too. Patong is too frantic for me to be there all the time. I have much noise now from construction all around me, I have children, and I love the beach in Kata! Always go back to the same lady in the middle of the beach (best spot!).
In the evening true, I miss Patong, or should I say MT bar. I would drop by much more often, if I was in Patong!!! But I like in general:
To have a lady for the night, or if she is nice, several nights. To have company in the restaurant (although if Sonja is in Kata, like to talk to her), in the evening play some pool have a tap-beer in a restaurant (2 restaurants actually) from people I know, then to bed wit the nice company!
Some evenings I don't go out, if I have a lady. Nice bottle of wine in the room, sometimes a movie. Then Once and a while I love to go to Patong for a change, see all these nice BM's, and sometimes listen to a band and eat at Coconut, my favourite in Patong.
I don't need the bar every night, because some evenings I want some peace!
