Air Asia booth at Tesco Lotus
For the first time we tried to buy tickets at the AirAsia booth at Lotus. The current price for our dates was 999 baht to Bangkok in August.
R/T with all taxes and fee's paid resulted in 2887 baht.
When I come home I checked the same dates on their homepage and it should have been exactly the same price to book online, I just wanted to verify that.
For infants, they charge 100 baht/oneway.

do you get the same airfare if you book the ticket for a next-day flight? or do you have to book a month ahead?

The way most of these budget carriers work is that they have a small amount of very cheap seats... an amount of cheap seats.. Some slightly cheap seats and some at full price (cheaper than Thai but they are less service and less convienent)..
Tickets usually start at 499.. 899.. 1199 and 1800 approx.. Dont know about the 999 above but they are all variable by a little..
So the first people that book a long time ahead get the cheap seats.. Then next ones up get etc until booking the day before gets the fullish price if the plane is full..
For me as I tend not to plan too much (plans get screwed up here) the difference between full price Nok air etc makes Thais service appealing.. BKK air is about 1850 and 90% of what Thai is I think.. Thai is 3 flights per day at 2000 - 2100 and any flights at 2650 IIRC..

No you cant get a refund on the tax portion of an airfare. If you think the tax on this is high, checkout the taxes on airfares in Australia.

its the same everywhere due to the high oil prices.airlines now pay nearly 70 dollars a barrel for oil compared to 2 years ago when it was mid 20s.they courteously pass these prices on to us.

Then why is it the governments levying the surcharge rather than the airlines which are the users of the fuel...
Airport taxes are simply a tourist tax and dont benefit the fuel buying airlines at all..

Not exactly the same, but i am using my air miles to get from paris to aberdeen next week, the route takes me to schipol first before aberdeen, anyway my free flights cost me 130 Euro, it was just something i had not thought about, usually my flights are paid for so i was just a little surprised at the cost of tax.
but 30000 air miles for business class return is not bad at all.
