China Airlines

Has anyone flown China Airlines. I've been checking and they connect Spokane Wa, through to HKT for $690 us. Thats more than half my cheapest fare from Vancouver!!!

I flew China Airlines via Amsterdam a few years ago and they scared me silly. Italian pilots, Chinese airline, old MD11 aircraft flying into Thai airspace and the most 'interesting' landing in Bangkok ever.

Never, ever, ever again. But I am a nervous traveller.

many times. good. cheap. no hassle. they just bring you to your destination and they shut up. perfect (I always put 2 small wine bottles in my handluggage, they are not that spoiling with alcohol). Other company from Taiwan, Eva, is even better and still affordable.

I think for you it's better to walk or take a tuk tuk to A'dam. Planes are not your thing.

CA ok but...

China Airlines is fine, but if you're a jittery passenger flying into Taipei isn't always a picnic, if that's where you transfer.

Here's a fun site to check out: www.airsafe.com

Just make sure they don't sneak you on a Tupolev.

Not to be confused with Air China, Chinal Airlines are nothing do with the Peoples Rep of China; their home port is Taiwan.

I always use them and shall continue do so again and again, although i have to admit that i fly Biz (Dynasty) Class so i can't comment on their Economy service.
I use the Amsterdam-Bangkok route and two months ago i was on the maiden flight of one of their spanking brand new 747's, very swish.
My flight originates in the UK and the cost of my ticket without using any air miles is £850-£1050 return depending on the departure date.
As far as i know, that is the lowest cost direct flight in Biz Class from Europe to Bangkok. The service is excellent, the seats are huge and the inflight entertainment is ok.
Recently i took a Singapore Airlines flight to Adelaide in Biz Class..Now we are talking although it cost an arm & a leg

Despite what i just wrote, that link shows that the China Airlines safety record is appalling; No wonder they are cheap and a good job i sleep like a log in those big seats once i have finished off all the Champagne they have on board

I tried lots of airlines to cater to my need for a couple travelling 4x a year Europe / Thai return.. obviously that frequent costs did come into it and being tall seats were really important..

China air is not very luxurious but its good reliable service.. We joined the frequent flyer program and after that we only flew in coach once or twice (biz nearly always and first a few times) they seem to be one of those airlines that is happy to bump thier dynasty members up a grade if the seats are available..
