Friendliest Hotel Experiences?
Hello all
I am a first time poster and three-time Patong visitor that has been following this forum regularly for about a year. I have seen numerous postings regarding hotels; which hotel is the best value, which are joiner friendly, etc. but I am interested in hearing about something a little more personal and subjective from forum members. Which hotel that you have stayed at in Patong do you think has the friendliest staff and atmosphere? The kind of place where when walk in they know your name, when you sit at the bar they automatically set your favorite frosty beverage in front of you, where when you are not out in the sois looking for fun you would be likely to hanging around the with the staff and new friends…
My three previous stays in Patong have been at Casa Summer Breeze. There have been some changes there which resulted in the departure of the manager, who has become a very good friend of mine. While I love the hotel and the rest of the staff there, and highly recommend it, I can’t in good conscience stay there for my trip this November knowing that it may result in loss of “face” for my friend. I will most certainly stop in and tip a few tall frosty beverages with the staff; I just can’t stay there…
I appreciate you sharing your friendliest hotel opinions.
Best Regards

Hi Mistertee9
Has Lisa stopped working at the Casa Summer Brezze?
Hv also stayed there the last 3 years.
I like the hotel even if it is a little expensive.

The Maya Patong Inn was, before the tsunami, very friendly. A family run boutique hotel it had just opened and I was fleeing the truly awful (old) Victoria Guesthouse. Rooms not big but well and newly fitted out and very friendly staff. Only the ground floor (no rooms down there just reception) was wrecked by the waves, so should be back in business. Noit cheap but GF (one at a time, ID at reception). Downside: The breakfast was awful (ham was green!).
Couldn't email them when I was booking this time, so will be at CNN.

The Blue Ocean is very good. Lovely staff, no joiner fee in low season, and good rates. Rooms are new and very clean, spacious and unique. Very friendly place. C&N Resort and Spa is also very good.

Thank you for your recommendations. I had seen both of them before in internet searches but nothing really distinguished them until you were kind enough to share your personal experiences of them. I really do appreciate your insight.
Yes, I was referring to Lisa at the Summer Breeze. She is a gem of a lady and a good friend. She took very good care of us every time we stayed at the Summer Breeze. Lisa was our holiday “cruise” director and hostess extraordinaire. I think anyone who ever met her would agree that she is a great lady…
Yes, the Summer Breeze is a little on the expensive side and came in at the top end of our hotel budget range, but it is a great place to stay; quiet location close to Bangla, nice clean rooms and comfortable bar area, good food, a WONDERFUL staff, and a nice friendly atmosphere.
Anyone else have a favorite friendly hotel they would care to share with the forum?
Best Regards

T Terrace guest hotel, rat-u-thid road, cheap, rooms tidy and okay not 4 star but well located, just passed Kristins and behind Lamai Inn/Hotel (don't remember which one) so close to Bangla + Beach etc, not staffed by nice looking tg's but a very nice husband & wife team with maybe son as night porter, the special thing was how they made my guests feel special each girl i brought back, they treated her as if she was my wife and when i brought the same girl back for the second night on the trot wow they made her feel like a princess. Met the owner in BKK airport on way back to phuket and she came up to me and offered special discounts for future occupation. Totally guest super friendly, maid room service daily and even they used to have a joke with me about my room never being empty when they wanted to clean it but they always just came back later on. I had always previously stayed in better quality hotels but this experience changed my opinion because I had such fun with owners, they do ask for id card from girl but heck thats for our safety so I think okay.

Leelavadee Boutique Hotel has good price for value rooms and a nice pool. Officialy it charges for joiners, but my friends ordered a double room with two breakfast each and could argue in their favour, when they returned with their ladies in the night.

Hi Barfly - it's now become a bit of a nonsense term really. Basically, it means a hotel that differs from the 'identikit' big chain hotels such as Hilton or Holiday Inn, because it's independently run and it has its own individual style. It was initially used to describe the new generation of hotels that cropped up in the 80's and 90's that were small in size, like an old fashioned English bed and breakfast, but nicely furnished and with a high standard bar and restaurant. But now it's used to describe any hotel that has any kind of individual touch to it. I've even noticed that one big hotel group has started to refer to some of their places - some with over 200 bedrooms - as 'grand boutique' hotels!

Thanks, I'll just ignore the phrase then!

Friendly experiences in hotels
I've always had a great time at any of the hotels I have stayed at. It's just that the LOS is that kind of place! They are always friendly. You would to have to really go out of your way and be a right d'head or grumpy fart not to make friends and really pee somebody off.
I normally try and order in some food and a few soft drinks at the end of my holiday as a thank you to the staff. I do this during the afternoon to try and include the cleaning staff who obviously wouldn't be there in the evening. It costs me peanuts in the end and goes a long way with these brilliant, hard working people. Gives me a warm and fuzzy and they also get to have a laugh at my feeble attempts at speaking Thai! At least my Thai tattoo's are spelt correctly (I think!) Do it yourself, make it part of your holiday, you will definately enjoy the banter and the laughter.
