Salathai is good, but make sure you e-mail first and ask the GF question. Nice rooms though, and a good pool.

I've just came back from a 10 days at Salathai, albeit it was my first stay here in Patong, I reckon they were very friendly. 1300 per night......but 10 days are too short...!

Try the Summer breeze hotel on soi san saen sabai, I have stayed their 5 times clean hotel, good staff, and bg friendly. It is the same street as soi bangla, perfect walking distance, not expensive.

I've never quite been brave enough to stay there, the Expat is a bit of an old fave of mine and I always look at the place hissing and steaming away and think 'no way Jose, not this time', the pool looks great though.

After a great deal of deliberation, I'm on the point of booking the Expat for a few days at new year. The only thing that worries me is that some say it is affected by noise. I tend not to have late nights, so would bar noise affect me?

Chill out Diz, you are not going to get a 24 hour ban for naming a hotel in public.

Hey Gez, the noise has never bothered me. There is, or at least was, a pretty loud music place down there, but there was a lot of development going on last August when I was there as well, maybe it's changed?

The only problems I had with the place was that the bed in the room was a little hard, which sounds a bit sopppy but I need my sleep man, and they had no other room.

Last August was the time when a guy killed himself in one of the rooms too and it really spooked the girls. A man on a mission around then would have found himself flying solo if he was staying at the Expat.

Yeah, I heard some girls are still frightened of ghosts and won't go there. Anybody any further updates with this?

I've stayed at the Expat quite a few times, used to be some noise from Galaxy disco further down the Soi but last couple of times didn't notice it. Also, was a bit noisy when they were knocking down the buildings on the Soi but that finished last year. If you want an early night , you'll have no problems.

Have never had a problem with this, was there at Christmas and again in May. I know quite a few "local" girls and none have even mentioned this, and as they now class me as a friend, I'm sure they would have said if there were any problems.

Always seems to be plenty of girls around, and many bring other BGs to use the pool in the afternoon.

Last time i was there (May), there was alot of noise coming from both Valhalla and building work in the soi throughout most of the day. But it only seemed to effect the wing on the left when u walk in. As i was speaking to other people in the other wings, and they said they heard nothing. But saying that, im prob will be staying there come November! As the fact that the staff have turn over the disc's in the player for the 'movie channel', makes me laugh!

Also, the airconditioning seems to be very loud as well as the fan. As I can kind of remember some of the tg's complaining about it! ("Oh fan gonna fall down" type of thing!

expat

i stayed there last xmas, its ok and the bed was good, but the loom was a bit small and very basic the tv is sealed up in a cage which hangs off of the ceiling and no remote and a crap picture and crap channels
the air con works fine but made loads of noise and like the tv it too hangs from the concrete ceiling
a simple coat of paint would work wonders also mossies invite themselves in through the toilet fan and bite you to ****
next time i visit los (xmas) im going to stay at a posher place even if i have to pay a j/fee(probably)
