booking flights in phuket

heading back to phuket in october and are planning to see a little bit more of the country this time. just a few short trips around changmia ,bangcock maybe, is it better to book domestic flights through a agent in OZ before I go, or leave it till I get there and arrange domestic flights in patong. not sure what I want to do yet..last time I was there I noticed a few signs around advertising domestic flights at good prices..anyway Im only staying 3 weeks so I wont be spending to much time out of patong.thanks...............

These are cheap (bit unreliable at times apparently). Not many flights out of Phuket but you could change at BKK.

Other sites are Thaiair, NOK (Oriental?). Have a look at the websites and compare them to what the travel agent is quoting.

I'd wait and book it from the travel agents in Bangla or Ratty Road, do it the day before you want to fly and you will get the discounts or just book from internet cafe. That way you leave all your options open, its real cheap to fly everywhere once there and if you book for a certain date beforehand its bound to not fit in with what you want when you get there.

Just my twopenneth worth but its what I always do.

The best laid plans, always change (especially after a few drinks). Wait till you get to Patong, then if you choose, you can be flexible about where and when you fly. If you book before you come out, you usually are fixed to certain dates/airlines.

When I started going to Thailand, 10-15 years ago they had a cheap ticket for 4 inland flights, you only had to book the first flight. I used it to fly BKK-Chiang Mai-Phuket-BKK (and had an extra flight spare). It came t about 200$. Maybe it still excists. You had to book it in your own country.

Good advise from Dodger. Thats what I would do as well.

There are plenty of travel agents offering deals to various parts of LOS.

Why get tied down to a specific date when you can book there for the following day.
