Grand Montana hotel?

Sorry if this is another one of those boring "Is this hotel any good threads", that must annoy everyone (including me!). But i've run the search and all i could find was a couple of refrences to it being opposite THE MASSAGE PLACE! Nothing about whats it's like or anything!

So has anybody stayed there? Are the rooms look like anything like the ones on the website? Is it worth the near 2000 baht a night it listed at? Is the disco still there as i dont remember ever hearing about it before when ive been in town?

Thanks for any replies and sorry if this annoy's anyone! Its just that i suddenly thought "My flights and time off is booked, but not a hotel"!

The disco is closed. I stayed at this hotel 6 years ago when it was under the old name, Hyton Marine Hotel. I got it included in a charter flight package.

No, I didnt like it. It was at that time no guest friendly and I thought it was not nice at all, dark corridors and a thrash dump view from the balcony behind the hotel. I moved to another hotel.

It may be a different story now thought.

You probably don't need to be told twice but I will add, it's disgusting. You willl be rightly pissed off having paid 2000Baht for that place.

I stayed there Sept last year and had paid in advance - in Japan so I had paid alot. Amongest other things the carpet was filthy, you could feel the sand in the carparet and long hair would stick to my feet after a shower (I shave my head so it wasn't mine). I asked repeatedly for it to be vacuumed and was told several times it would be done tomorrow. It wasn't I could see peices of fluff that hadn't moved. In the end I took the manager up to see it. Of course she guarranteed it would be done - tomorrow, the last full day I was there.

The included breakfast was not worth eating.

You had to walk across a carpark to get to the pool.

The building was dirty and run down, and the hallways are like tennanment housing with metal doors.

What appears to be a poolside bar on some photos is a bar in reception - again across the carpark from the pool It's not in operation so it doesn't matter.

They had a joiner fee of 500Baht.

I was responsible for them being removed from the HIS (Japan's second largest travel agency) list of hotels.

2000 Baht in low season will get you an excellent room elsewhere or a bunglaow at Club Bamboo etc.

Yeah thanks for the reply.

After Nicke's responce I didn't get as far as even emailing them! So it looks like i'll gonna be in the C&N or expat, but thinking of Patong Villa as well! Then I always liked the coconut village, so i might have a look in to them again even though they charge 1000 baht 'joiner fee', but at my old age, I dont think ill be doing that many bg anymore! Oh my aching back!

2 out of 2 bad replies about this hotel is more than enough i think, but let me just add my comemnts....

I had to move into there after the tsunami as my hotel was destroyed... the rooms were horrible, the view was crap, the service was even worse, and when i moved into the room, someone elses stuff was in there!!!!!

Do not go near this hotel with a bargepole. It use to be nice 10 years ago but years of neglect has meant it has gone into disrepute!!

Just one thing to add to the comments about the Montana - what about the lift on the outside of the building ( think Towering Inferno) ! Honestly felt like it was gonna come away from the building on the way up. You could see a six inch gap going up ! In the corridor there was an open door frame (no door) leading onto a flat roof and a sheer drop 10 floors down - no railings , nothing. Scared me to death just looking at it. Hope there's no sleepwalkers there
