Maybe
I'm not sure about the traffic at noon in Bangkok. I always land at the airport around midnight. At that time, the traffic is good. What would you want to see in Bangkok? Personally, I'd just relax at the airport and save up my energy for Phuket.

5 hours, no just stay at the airport. You can checkin straight through to Phuket and stay in transit, go to gates 1-7 and just get a bus to your Phuket flight.

5 hours is a little short to visit BKK, I think, as you will have to pass custom and immigration, then take a taxi to BKK and return.... Last year, I too had to wait 5 hours, but I asked at the transfer desk if it was possible to have another flight earlier and I got one only 2 hours later, just the time to have a drink or two and to relax a bit walking in the airport.

stay at airport
yes mate have a few beers at the airport let the missus and kids look at the shops.
5 hours rushing around bkk is to much for most and you will be ratty as hell after that.
relax and think of the beaches at phuket.

Just one question. Where are the elevators? In the Transit zone or outside? Never seen any elevators in transit zone. And I don't stay outside that zone for 5 hours.

Don Muang have massage, I only had normal massage their althought one time asked me if I wanted to switch to oil massage with her the second hour. (I dont know her intentions)
The Barber shops (I think I saw 2 last time, on second floor) offers extra services, have no idea about pricing or what services thought, never tried it but heard from others. It also dont look like a normal barber, lots of private rooms with a chair for you in private.
