Honeymoon Accommodation Dec 2006

Im looking at booking accommodation for my honeymoon in Phuket arriving around December 2006.
What is the weather like in December?
We would like to relax in the day and travel into patong at night. I have looked at the katathani hotel, can anyone advise on this hotel?
Please could you advise on activities we can do in the daytime and nightime?

Cheers Bobz

You are on your honeymoon and asking about what you and your wife could do? I'll avoid giving the obvious answer

Weather in December is very good usually.

Don't know about the hotel, but try the search function above and put in the name of the hotel. if people have mentioned it, there will be a listing of the threads.

Welcome to the board.

Welcome Bobz,

Yes, December is one of the best months to have a trip to Thailand and Kata Thani is a very big and good hotel. Never staid there but I have a couple of friends who did and it was really nice.

Forget to book for all inclusive and have your meals outside, it will be cheaper, you will meet more people and it will be really good. You will find many little restaurants everywhere, all of them are good and a dish will cost 80 bath (1.5 €) instead of 600 bath in the hotel.

Many things to see, many places and people to discover in Thailand, don't miss it while staying in your hotel

BTW, congratulations

Just around the corner is Mom Tri's Villa Royale, it is a nice spot. Also nice in that area is Marina Phuket with some real nice sea view rooms. But maybe best for you is to try the new pool villa's at the newly opened Crown Plaza Karon Beach (ask for upstairs villa and sea view you will have a plungepool on the roof where you can enjoy eachother, champagne and the sunset all at the same time.

If you need more info just PM me

Baan Yin Dee has some spectacular suites.. Pricy but you are on a honey moon..

Close to Patong and yet out opf town.. Not so close to a beach that you can walk it though but Paradise beach which is one of my faves is just round the corner..

weather details...

hi

For details of weather records in december you could play with this link...

http://www.wunderground.com/history/....html#calendar

january and february seem to have more sun......so delay the wedding?

Someone suggested the kata thani....yes it looks great on a great beach but kata noi is a very quiet location, if you want a good hotel with more variety (not in the girl sense as you'll be all loved up) I think the advice to find a quality hotel closer to patong is good advice.

If your looking for solitude and a better beach....try nai han...further south but a great beach!

don't forget to bring some wedding cake for the forum members so they can soak it in cider........sorry singha

I stayed at Kata Thani Buri earlier this year.

Best hotel/resort stayed in, in Thailand

Great rooms,ABF,swimming pools ( one on beach)
and Kata Noi best beach I saw on Phuket ( imho
much better than Karon, however I haven't seen
them all, including Nai Han)

Would recommend pool view room only. There
were 2 outbuildings that I wouldn't consider staying in
at the price they charge.

Also there is a sister resort Kata Thani ???? ( forget the suffix)
about 50 metres down the road which is more expensive
but is on the beach , all rooms appear to have seaviews
and 3 big pools on the beach.

Kata Noi is indeed small. When I was there 2 restaurants ( not
very good) 1 bar, 1 cocktail bar, 1 massage parlour ( old and
very ugly masseurs) but on the upside only 2 Indian tailors were
open.

Kata Yai is a 20 minute walk (some uphill) or 100 bht tuk tuk
ride away with excellent restaurants and good bars, some with
live music. Patong a 200-300 bht trip away

If you envisage your honeymoon ( without gratuitous comments
on sex stops) as thus -

Wake up late
Great ABF
4-5 hrs on stunning beach with beach massage
Lunch and nap
2-3 hours at fabulous pool
Taxi/tuk tuk to Kata Yai or Patong for dinner

then I would highly recommend either Kata Thani resorts .

P.S. Although I booked on latestays.com when got there, the best rates I saw prior to going was on passionasia.com

In about the same price range - but a bit more convenient is the Kata Beach Resort. My favorite beach on the island - and my wife's favorite breakfast buffet (ok, mine too!). Great setting, good views, the best beach, and a new little restaurant bar - on their sea wall - good simple food - pefect to sit at sunset and watch the people down below.

Some photos are at:Kata Beach Resort

I eat there regularly (enjoy the little restaurant with a view) - but haven't stayed there for a long time - they have fairly recently rehabbed the whole place (pre-tsunami).

Nice place for a honeymoon. Easy to walk to things in Kata town. The area has plent of shopping and bars if you wish for them.

I liked the Marina Phuket and it is at the southern end of Karon, just 1 beach south of Patong. Le Meridien is another nice resort but pricey, does have their own private beach area and just minutes from Patong.

Like I said Marina Phuket is a nice surroundings, close to the beach and actually next door to Karon Beach mentioned two posts ago.

But if you have really no limits: Spa Pool Villa's at Banyan Tree. You will absolutely enjoy that
