Thumbs down Airfare Getting Too High For Crimbo!

Looks like airfare during anytime near Xmas or New Years is pretty much out of the question now with double the rate during that time on all the websites. Don't think I can afford it gents.

January looks good, though. When does the high-high season drop? Jan. 15? I'm sure it will be almost as fun - but I wish I was hangin' with ya'll to bring in 2006.

Xmas Airfares

Yep its Expensive. Last year we paid about £900 on Emirates. But the hotels are cheap and the overall cost is low. Try looking at flights flying out on Dec 8th - Doesn't seem to matter much about the return. The kick is on the 9th and 10th. £649 goes to £895.

Last year I booked in mid-December for a BKK flight leaving SF on Dec 28. It was only approx. $800 or $850. All the flights leaving on or before Christmas Day were more than twice that price!!! So the price goes down a lot after Christmas, especially if you are staying for more than a couple weeks.

I was in Cuba last year and got talking to a German guy who told me that flight prices in Germany had fallen due to the state of the economy there.

I've got my New Year flight booked, but maybe in the future I might try and get a low cost carrier from UK to Germany and then the long haul from Germany to LOS.

Anybody know which airports in Germany have most flights? Dusseldorf, Mannheim, Berlin?

I think Frankfurt is their main airport, it certainly used to be Lufthansa's.

Hello all, first post....i'm doing it the opposite way this xmas, buggering off back to Manchester on the 23rd Dec for 2 weeks accompanied by the old trout and a couple of rug rats. 1600 quid on Emirates, couldn't believe it when i saw the price a couple of weeks ago, booked it straight away....only problem is its heading to Manchester (the joys of spendin' xmas with the family)

To any UK boardies struggling to get a decent price.

I highly recommend west east travel, I have just paid £450 + £95 tax for HTW/BKK return on Thai air for the 10/11/05 - 26/11/05.

I booked this yesterday and called back today with my payment details, Airline network are quoting £612 of todays date and Ebookers are quoting £629 of todays date. So my total after tax of £545 looks a better deal.

They also allow you to book without a deposit and I was told that I have up to 1 week to pay. I was also advised that I can reserve my seats now and the guy who was very helpful helped me pick some decent aisle seats at the front of the plane.
Airline network never informed me I could do this in the times I have booked with them, so I'm happy this other company have given a better service.

Take a look at the site, the deal I have booked on Thai air does state that this deal is valid for travel between 01 Sep - 09 Dec, however I got the impression that they do this price pretty much all year round from the guy I spoke to, at the very least I think they may offer you a better deal on the various airline than the other online companies.

Good luck
