Internal Flights

Who are the best airlines to use for internal flights in Thailand? Nokair and Airasia seem to be very cheap are they reliable? Also does anyone know if any of the budget airlines fly to Saigon from Bangkok?

Watch out for the baggage allowance on the budget carriers, if you arrive from europe with 20 kg of baggage you could get hit for excess when you transfer to your internal flight - no problem here with thai or bangkok.

Thai is possibly the best but its also the most expensive, Air asia can be really unreliable, Dont know much about Nok Air but for me I always fly Bangkok Airways, Its very reliable with a good service and also the prices are a lot cheaper than Thai airways, And IMHO they are just as good as Thai Air.

Normally use Thai from Bangkok to Phuket as I fly international with them and can check my luggage all the way through. Also , have Thai Gold frequent flyer card , so guaranteed to get seat on any flight.

Hi,

Last summer I used Nok and Orient Thai. Next winter I already booked online with NOK (BKK to Phuket). For me they where very reliable and very inexpensive. Only good reports from me. You can check out Orient Thai at:
http://www.fly12go.com/en/main.shtml

Price all in for Bkk-Phuket or BKK- Chiang Mai will be around 1350 BT

Cheers,

Raval

Use Bankok Airways when possible, otherwise found Air Asia also ok.

Bangkok/Samui they use ATR72's mostly. Bangkok/Phuket they use jets, either 717 or A320's. These arent too small.

Who the hell needs 20 kilos of luggage for christ's sake ? I take only a max of 10kg. If I haven't got it with me I'll buy it in Thailand. Anything you're finished with when it's time to go home, throw it away or give to the lady. If you need clean clothes there are plenty of local laundrettes in the resort.

I agree with you. I have only maximum of 5 kg in a Rucksack.

I have been trying to book internal flights for April 2006 with several of the budget airlines without success. Would I be right in thinking that they do not accept bookings that far ahead?

That is correct. I had a limited choice for my Christmas flight which I booked about 4 weeks ago.

Most that I have looked at tend not to quote past 3 months, however if you want to go for safety, i.e. to be sure that you will definitely get a seat, then book your connection with Thai Airways who go up to 1 year in advance.
