Long Hauls

For my upcoming trip in November I'm taking the new Thai Airways non stop from New York to Bangkok. This Flight will be my longest oneever at just under 17 hours. I guess its a small price to pay for two weeks in paradise, however I was just wondering if anyone has been on a plane longer than 17 hours and if so to where?

yes but now i'm lucky, use direct flights from ams to bkk they are only 11,30 hours from there 1 hour wait in bkk and then 1,20 to phuket total 13.50 hours
the early years ams -dubai-bkk-phuket with 2 stops total 19 hours

and it's better to fly 17 hours to paradise than to walk 17 hours and find out you're stil in the same shithole 5555555555

Do a search for "long ass flights".
Here's one Denver posted about one of his trips.

I did around 15.5 hours Hong Kong to London (3 hours on the runway in Hong Kong) which must be my toughest trip, particularly because it was on the way home.

When I get on these flights I try and think 'how hard can it be?' All I have to do is sit down and read\watch tv\try and get my ticket price back in comp beer

Done around 14.5 hours from Hong Kong - would recommend you get some Ambiem/Stilnox so you can guarantee some sleep.

Would not recommend this. Taking sleeping tablets means you will not be drinking so much (water) and can end up dehydrated, also you maybe too drowsy to pay attention to safety advice and to react in an emergency situation. By all means take the sleeping stuff once you get home to recover from the flight.

Would normally agree but found this one so gentle that there were no bad side affects or feeling of lethargy at all and got around 6 hrs sleep on a 14 hr flight so still plenty of time for water - if there was an emergenct then adrenelin would kick in.
Had a long converstation with a pharmacist in Hong Kong about what was best to take (I originally asked for temazepan) and now always take one of these around an hour before the flight

For a great nights kip: I would recommend sitting next to the pair of twonks I had to endure on the way home this time. They were on their way back to the UK from Sydney via BKK. The woman of the mating pair reached into her handbag for one of those menthol things you stick up your nose to help your breathing and then offered it to me!!! Gee Thanks! I'll just put that white plastic bogey encrusted tube up my nose! I think not Missus!

I had to endure about an hours worth of "our time with Aunty Freda in Sydney" (I realise now why fcuking Aunty Freda emigrated!) and then it was lights out for me.

On that website were you can chose your seat before you fly. It should have a big flashing sign above the seat saying "Boring Twonk" so you can look for a better seat near the blocked and backed up toilets at the back!

AND it was them that gave me the flu I started with on the way back to Rochdale in't taxi!

I can see how that might work but wouldn't you have to buy 3 seats every time you travelled .... (I realise nothing for a man of you means )

Most annoying for me was london - BKK with etihad - 4 pissed up englishmen , ok no problem , we're all excited, etc.
But even when they fell asleep the loudest of them started shouting (and I mean shouting) in his sleep - entire plane got no sleep.
So got to bangkok, had a great time for 3 weeks or so in thailand and laos then while queueing for the return flight, who did I spot ....... (my seating requirements to the checkin staff were VERY precise )

Done Melb to London couple of times which takes 25hours or so......stopover in KL & Bkk for about 3 hours is included in this time.

Flew from Paris to Melb back in 1997, via Heathrow (4 hour stopover) & Bkk (3 hour stopover)......took 40 hours from the time we left hotel in Paris to the time l walked in the front door back home in Melb......and then had to front up to work the next day.....l was like a zombie
