No posts on sex with minors will be allowed on this board. The prohibition extends to comments, questions, stories, jokes and any other references, open or veiled, to sex between adults and persons under 18 years of age.

There are no exceptions. Any post that in the opinion of the moderators contains a reference to sex with minors will be deleted and BM responsible will be warned or immediately banned. Please note this includes "warnings" about establishments or areas in which underaged providers of sexual services are likely to be encountered. Your intentions may be the best, but such "warnings" attract the wrong sort of attention.

No public debate or discussion of this policy will be permitted. If you have questions regarding its application, please send a PM to a moderator. There may be forums where public debate of such issues is appropriate, but this forum isn't one of them.

However, the age of Thai P4P providers is a legitimate concern of tourists and expats alike. The situation is complicated, as various laws apply and citizens of a number of countries, including the U.S. Australia and most West European nations, can be prosecuted at home for sex crimes committed in Thailand.

There can be endless debate about the interpretion of paragraphs and clauses within the laws, but there are two overriding conclusions:

1) Never under any circumstances have sex with a partner under 18 years of age; and
2) If payment for sexual services takes place, you are safest from a legal perspective if your partner is at least 20.

So how do you determine the age of Thai P4P providers? Ask to see their identification card. Every Thai citizen over 15 must have a national ID card. If a provider can't show you an ID card on request - forget it right there. No ID card ....forget it.

But if she shows you a card, how do you check it? First, make sure the picture resembles her. If it doesn't look anything like her, don't go any further.

Please note that a girl born in 2532 could be risky unless you're able to read the name of the month in Thai script. Play it safe and stick to girls born 2530 or earlier.
