Watana Mansion

Hello!
Does anybody know the Watana Mansion? Is it good? Is it better to have the hotel by the NANA plaza or is it better to have it by KhaoSan road?
Thank You, Borchy

All depends on whether you want to make the journey from Khao San Road to NEP and back, if not then stay in Suk 4.

Old thread I know!!

Watana is at Ratchadapisek rd right ?

Could get to Nana through the MRT. Taxi from Nana Plaza to Watana would cost approx 100THB ?

Im plannin gon booking in here. Seems like a fab deal for 2400THB 4days/3nights. Taxes, breakfast & airport transfers included

Can't beat the value on that but do you really want to be "commuting" to the fun zone all the time? Also if you want a ST then you are paying extra for the short time hotel. If you want to do something in the daytime or even go to a restaurant somewhere you're paying extra there as well. In my experience you have a much better time when staying near the main action and it's not that much more expensive when you factor in the savings.

Yeah im figuring it out...

Iv stayed at the Bangkok inn once when I was on a budget trip(just like this time!!). It wasnt. It will cost me around 1090/- daily (taxi+ food extra). But it puts me in the heart of things.

If you really counting every baht the PB hotel will let you have a room for 700/night. There's a small hotel in Soi tunnel that's 700-800 baht I think but I don't remember the name.

Plaaaaaaaayyyyboy hotel. Or just Playboy hotel if you don't want to sound gay.

But really it is actually known as "PB hotel" and that's what you'll see on the sign. It's on sukhumvit soi 3 (the part where they'll give you a LT room is anyway). For those who might be interested I discovered on my last trip they've also got a dodgy drive through area between soi 3 & 11 with cheaper ST rooms and I can confirm this is where you'll find the rumoured gynecology chair (though it looked a bit rubbish frankly).

I've not heard any bad stories but there's real little info out there on PB hotel as there's no interent presence (including the hotel booking sites). Most people don't even know you can actually get a nightly room there (it is very well known as a short time hotel).

@brit : Im going to have to check this out. I might stay the first night elsewhere and then move in here. I just need to sust out the security situation first.

Also, Iv been toying with what you said. Yes it seems like commuting to the "fun" zone doesnt appear so great after all. I will sacrifice the extra THB daily and stay around nana

Do you mean Soi 3 and 5 ? I dont remember 11 being interconnected with soi 3. How far from from the bamboo beer bar is the PB rooms ?

sorry for so many questions, im off by the weekend

No it's Soi 3 & 11, there's a road that connects both (confusingly still part of and known as soi 3, OR 11 from the other side). The reason it doesn't run into soi 5 is that the depth of 5 is shorter and it already terminates and connects with 7 by then.

PB is on the connector road, it's further in than bamboo and past the grace hotel also. If you know where the bumrungrad hospital road is it's in line with that on the other side.

This map may explain the connection between Soi 3 and 11

PB Hotel is by the "S" of the big SUKHUMVIT. If you've ever been to Qbar that will give you an idea of distance, on the map that's located on that right angle coming off soi 11.

Brit, this might be my final choice... my only concern is security for belongings... got to take a chance I guess !! If the rates are still around the 700thb mark I will take the plunge. Otherwise I might settle for Bangkok inn or one of the other budget places.

Thanks abunch mate!

No problem have a good trip

As a backup there's also Nap-Inn which seems to be getting popular around here:

Thanks for the link brit

Staying at the Rembrandt as of now with a colleague since his company has a fully paid twin room for 3 days will need to move into the nap or PB tomorrow.

Have you experienced either (ok for a ST/LT) lol... Even though I dont smoke I would prefer a place that allowed it for my 'guests'
